Hey NOBODY, your ass crack is showing again.

OH that was your mouth? I'm sorry.

Be very careful when you make appointments with your dentist and your proctologist.

Your comic strip was funny and sad at the same time. Funny because it is true, and sad because your old one eye is so blind that you only see a part of the picture.

Don't fret. When the far right wingers like me, modeled after George, Tommy ,And Benny , pull this country back to where it should be.... You might have enough money left to buy a real sense of humor.

philbymon wrote:I disagree, of course, Glen. I think we NEED a gov't that will protect us from trusts & monopolies, as I've said before. Yes, it needs to get off the backs of small business. That I can agree with.

But the American ppl..nay...the ppl of the WORLD need to be protected from unscrupulous, dangerous, & overly powerful corporations like Monsanto & its ilk. If these co's have their way, slavery will not be a thing of the past. They must be stopped, & consumers simply cannot do it in a totally free market. These co's can too easily manipulate prices, distribution & supply. We must never turn the reins over. Gov't is our SOLE protection, & we MUST wrest it from these corp's control, or become enslaved to them.

If I agreed with you, Glen, we'd both be wrong.

You said 'Nay' 8)
I thought muskets were our only protection

The government has no constitutional nor moral authority to make anything mandatory. Not even taxes.

I can agree with that, but the reality is quite different, isn't it?

I feel for you allthat are looking for jobs that can actually support a family.
It is tough.
I live in Ohio one of the hardest hit by families that lost their homes.
My only salvation is,I'm retired.
There is a down side to this as the taxes that comes out, even though you have already paid taxes on it before.
Sometimes it's not a matter of getting off your dead ass and look for work.
I think we all better wake up and take this as a sign of the times.
Bless you all and keep the faith.

The ONLY reason governments exist is to create laws that preserve order and benefit the greatest number of people. Things like unemployment insurance, social security and Worker's Compensation exist because there are laws to provide these protections. Without them employers would take unfair advantage of workers. If this is socialist than so be it.

I see an interesting debate going on here but confused, I’m reading everybody’s points and most of them are good points I don’t mean to sound Pollyannaish but it would be useful to make some distinctions here.

We the people in this society in this country have amongst others a dual role; 1 Citizens 2; consumers and both roles are abused by the government and by Corporate America.

Example, I own a one family house and pay $8K a year in property taxes, once a year some shmock from the township come around to see if I’ve made some improvement on my house if I do improve my house I get my property tax increased.

For years I wanted to finish my basement and redo my driveway with concrete but I haven’t done it because I don't want another property tax increase bottom line is that the government is controlling the way I want my house to be, this is the grievance outlined by Glen Sans and others a government going way beyond its constitutional mandate IMO.

Then we have the control of corporate America on consumers, it we take the health care as an example we see that health care board members have literally people’s lives in their hands, they have the power of life and death on anyone of us, these people have acquired this power not through fair competition or for the benefit of their health policy holder but strictly for personal gains rather than allocate the premiums collected from policy holders to pay claims they use these monies to elect politicians who will pass legislations favoring their industry.

For this kind of corrupt practices I have to subscribe to the point of view of Philbyman Mike Nobody and some others on this board.

What’s needed IMO is to have the government apply the control placed on the people on corporate America not to run their business but to stop abuses and unfair practices.

Sigh, our government has been reduced to a greed management body a role which it is well suited for due as I’ve mentioned it before to monies poured into our elections by corporations to elect not legislators but agents of corporate board members.

Sad to say but the United States are but united.

End of my rant.

That is really quite laughable considering what the unions and the government have conspired to do to the American worker.

With friends like that, I don't need no enemies.

Not sure what you mean George. How have unions and the government conspired? How have unions hurt workers? Unions were created for a reason: corporations could not be trusted to do the right thing and treat workers fairly. Whether that role is still required is debatable, but this much is certain: without laws to closely monitor big business capitalism fails.

Capitalism is like a pack of dogs loose in your house. They will destroy everything and eventually eat each other if left unchecked.

If your liberal bent has so blinded you to what both parties and the labor unions are doing to control votes, the illegal use of tax monies to support / bail out business bankrupted by union corruption.
IE General Motors as a single very visible example.

Then it will do no good for me to attempt to explain it to you.

Suffice to say we will always disagree on this point.

Government control will always corrupt into some form of communism or fascism.

Liberty ... freedom of choice for the citizenry to make their own decisions of how to manage their monies is the only viable option. Poorly run business operated by corrupt unions should fail without being artificially propped up at tax payer expense ... ever.

GM did not declare bankruptcy because of unions, they were forced to due to years of greed and mismanagement. I worked at GM and come from a GM family, I know first hand how badly the company was managed in the 70's and 80's. Much of it was due to the company becoming too bloated; it became necessary to shed layers of both managers and union workers to get the company to a viable size. Whether we should have bailed out GM is debatable but blaming the auto industry's woes on unions is a joke.
