Ooo! you cut me to the quick, ya pill-poppin' dirty-diaper bitchy lil toddler!

Your activities on this forum are a perfect example of the results of the misuse of anti-depressants. Your illogical, over-emotional, irrationally aggressive posts run all through the forum.

You're an over-medicated idjit-child being turned into yet another junkie in the name of corporate greed, junior. Get off the happy-pills & deal with life, stupid.

This will be in my upcoming book "How To Make Enemies and Irritate People."

Sorry, kid, but you're far too weak a person to consider an "enemy," & far too ineffectual to even be an irritation. You give yourself way too much credit.

By all means, though, do continue to try to achieve those lofty goals. Your efforts are mildly amusing.

Hey Nobody - did you even read this disclaimer?

"...if what you're doing is working for you, then, by all means, continue, & ignore my personal beliefs."

You, however, are irrationally argumentative. You're overly aggressive. You're impulsive, & apt to fly off the handle for little or no reason. You're combative. All of these are classic symptoms of improperly prescribed antidepressants. Look it up. Better check with your doctor. I think your meds need adjusting.

I skipped pages 2 & 3 , to get right to the point/opinion that:
Philby is strongly opinionated on this point of medication for clinical<insert>.

And I don't disagree on every point of his.
But, a blanket statement such as meds are 100% un-necessary, I believe to be overreaching.

I think meds CAN be a temporary tool...

For his example, I can produce many others pointing to folks(in my own extended family circle) who have been through such conditions: and have been helped, even temporarily with meds, and have come through and are now NOT on meds.

oh well, all this is very much an individual ...thing.

like homeschooling...now THERE'S a thorny debate no?

Wow...this grew fast....

I agree with Sans that the mind controls the chemicals in your brain. Science would support that at this time.

But,, When your brain isn't functioning because of bad chemical balances it makes sense to get the chemicals back into balance so the brain can function properly. Meds help do this.
Phil...your wife had a sh*tty doctor. Most people do not understand just what a clinical depression is. We've all been depressed, feeling blue is a depressive episode, but a clinical depression is when the brain stops producing the nero transmitters it needs to function and the depressed person starts to shut down and have the worst kind of black thoughts. Sometime they can't get out of bed, function sexually, or function at all. I've been there.....

But to say that you shouldn't use a tool that could save the live of the afflicted person ????

I can't help but ask that age-old question, when it comes to this, though. Ya know the one - which came first, the chicken or the egg?

Is the chemical imbalance the cause of the depression, or is it the constant flow of bad thoughts what causes the chemical imbalance? I happen to think it's the latter case, mostly because there are so many societies, so much history in the world of medicine, that had no need for those drugs, before the modern pharmaceutical conglomerates invented ("discovered") the need for them.

Yeah, at some point, I agree that it's difficult at best to merely function, but that has rarely happened before we allowed it to happen. In the past, when ppl became totally non-functioning, they were often literally whipped into shape until they got moving again. Problem solved.

Why allow dangerous, & possibly permanent, side effects to enter one's system at all, when there are other perfectly viable alternative treatments?

Have you looked at the possible side effects? Have you ever heard of a single doctor that can predict how your system will react? They don't exist. Even the companies that supposedly do those "exhaustive" tests can't predict how they may affect you. You would trust that doctor to possibly mess up your perceptions of this world for life? Would you allow a 12 year old kid to fix your brakes on your car? That's a perfect analogy, cuz when it comes to the brain & the workings of the mind, our medical & pharmaceutical machines are the equivalent of a 12 year old car mechanic.

I saw that minions are $2.99 per dozen down at the grocery store, but personally, I prefer garlic.
