I LOVE shoveling snow. Last year was by far the most snow we have had since I lived in Kansas City (1987). I live in a townhouse and they plowed the parking lot ONCE after the Christmas blizzard we had. For the next week after that it snowed 1-3 inches every day. I spent the entire week shoveling the parking lot. The neighbors kep complaining to the office about the lack of a snowplow. No need for a snowplow when you've got me in your cul-de-sac. I shoveled the equivalent of a dozen parking spaces by myself. ANd that included using an ice-pick to break apart the compacted snow. It was an average of about 5 to 10 degrees the enitre week. They thought I was crazy. I thought it was invigorating...

Hard manual labor is good for the soul. You should try it sometime...

I would say it's terrible for your back and all other joints.
I was a tree surgeon for 20 years and I pay for it every day now.
Hard physical labor is old school thinking.
Modern techniques that avoid labor are the way to go.
For your body, just reasonable exercise.

I have to agree with Bob. Hard physical labor is good for the soul.
Dumb physical labor is hard on the body.
Technique is half the battle. Not pushing your limitations is the other half.

Here in Seattle we've entered "The Tunnel" and we have about 9 months of rain ahead
I'd love to move but my wife's job is keeping us for just a few more years.

But when it's nice here it's very nice.....

Rain is nice, it never stopped me from going outside. I love watching the sunsets after it rains and the clouds start to break. It's very, shall I say, inspirational? Good smelling too.
