Well... this is interesting. The rise in the Canadian Dollar is creating alot of changes in the way Indie Labels ... such as myself ... look at contracts... or rather ... "who" we contract.

With the rise in the Canadian Dollar ... and ... being that I am Canadian ... Artists from the UK are looking more profitable. If the Canadian Dollar continues to rise ... I could be looking at an equation such as:

Sponsor an Artist in the UK using Canadian funds to buy commodities such as CD Production from a US Based Company. This will save me money in the currency exchange. I just may be able to buy $5,000 in CD Production from the US for only about $4,500 Canadian Currency. Ship the CDs to the UK where the Artist is and ground the balance of the contract from that point.... allowing for the royality revenue to be in UK funds (GBD). By doing this I will double my revenue earned in (GBD) during the GBD and CAD Currency exchange. Which would have been a loss if bases on USD.... and a medium if grounded on the CAD from start to finish. To earn a revenue of sayyyyy $4 per CD I will only need about $2 GBD ... but perhaps $4.25 USD.

When considering the Canadian Currency and Labels... the UK, Australia, and New Zealand are becoming popular to Canadian Labels. But the Euro and US dollar drop is creating a loss of interests in Eastern Europe and the United States.

The United States are maintaining a market on New Zealand and Australia, but are also losing ground on Eastern Europe.... and Canada.

The New Zealand and Australian struggle to reach a balance in commodity exchange is becoming too crazy to watch .... and the UK just doesn't have a foot hold on the rest of the market at all being left behind in currency exchange.

So ... if your an artist looking to get signed .... and are willing to accept the assistance of an Indie Label..... where do you look? More so than not ... you will likely get signed by an Indie Label from a different country .... encouraged by a currency exchange revenue contract... than you will from a company in your same town who only gets $1 for $1.
