Yeah Philby applying mafia methods to international policies makes for an interesting combination, the guy made me laugh.

I wonder though if our intelligence agencies have ever employed the mafia.

I read years back Mussolini was captured and shot by Italian partisans and hung upside down in a square in Milan.

According to my grandparents he split the country in half between fascists and antifascists, his ideology was not universally accepted by the Italians who fought his regime until its demise.

Although I share with you and others the frustration caused by the current situation, I have to distance myself form employing a totalitarian system to correct the wrong that plagues us.

I was being facetious. Mussolini preceded Hitler and was a huge influence on him. Benito knew Hitler was building for war and begged Hitler to give Italy another two years to build its military, especially the navy which could have made it very difficult for Britain in North Africa. One military historian said that the Italian's state of unreadiness was a major factor in Germany's defeat in WWII as Germany often had to come to the rescue of Italian forces thus spreading Nazi forces dangerously thin at times.

I always liked this guy, "Nicolas Sarkozy". Yeah, he's french but he seems to be different.

His regular life is a shambles, but he isn't going to take it lying down.

Other than that, he just seems charismatic.

Yeas Bob I didn’t think you were advocating dictatorship even though I failed to acknowledge that in my reply

The military historian is right; I read more or less the same thing in other History books, historians also point out although Nazis and fascists were ally the Italian army was a reluctant participant to the alliance particularly when it came to roundup of Jews under Italian controlled territories for deportation in Germany, on this subject there is an excellent documentary called “The righteous enemy “done by Jews under Italian army control, if anybody is interested in this kind of stuff I’d invite them to watch it, very informative.
