Fame and fortune is highly over-rated. Most people are simply crushed under it's weight. J. Morrison, J. Joplin, J. Hendrix, Sid Vicious, Kurt Cobain, and others paid the final price while 100s of walking wounded are still out there today. I watched as many of my musician friends snorted their whole lives up their nose in the 80s.
So who gets it right? The ones who understand that they are just a guy/gal with a cool job that has long hours but pays pretty well. They are well grounded, humble, and have no illusions of grandeur. They know who God is and it ain't them. When the tracks are laid or the tour is over they go home to their families in the country and avoid the trappings of high society.
