Freddy Mercury was THE bast male vocalist EVER imo. Borat dude is a VERY talented actor. I think the problem will be getting ANYBODY to do the vocals. If I were the director I would be lifting the live vocals from Freddy and putting them in the film.

Yeah, you're right, Sans.

Paul, I'm sure there's some bedroom vocalist right now who could peg Freddie Mercury pretty close.

I remembered when Freddie died and they announced it on the radio. I was depressed for weeks. I never knew the guy and I felt like I'd lost a friend. He was such a inspiration to me.

His death ran in a two paragragh article on page 11 of our local newspaper (There are usually only about 12 pages). Idiots.

The same newspaper put Magic Johnson in full color on the front page when he announced he was HIV positive.

Hmmm...let me think...a guy that entertained people around the world for 20+ years, creating some pretty amazing music in the process that stands the test of time, OR, a uh basketball player. IMO, there have been MANY players that have or could have done what Magic did. There was only ONE Freddie.

I'm pretty biased, I'll admit.

"Peg" and "pretty close" are mutually exclusive. Pegging it is nailing it. Or doing it right. Pretty close is just that pretty close.
It's not just His tone, or his pitch, his range, or his phrasing, or his annunciation. It is that bullet proof combo that sets him leagues beyond everybody else. Way better than any of the other greats - Brad Delp, Steven Perry, Chris Cornell. None of them are that well rounded.

Not thought of it in those terms Paul, but I'd be inclined to agree with your assessment.

Not that long after Freddie's death there was a Queen concert with George Michael as the lead singer. I'm no George Michael fan but I was surprised by what a great job he did. I rather doubt they can find anybody to come close to Freddie's vocals so I wouldn't be surprised to use his original voice in this movie. I hope Cohen is good at lip-syncing.

I think George Michael is a great vocalist.

Freddie was a waste of white, other than his vocal talents.

What does that mean?

That's pretty simple man.
Great musician, no discipline as a man.

Just my opinion.

It's the "waste of white" part that I have issues with. I'm guessing that fact that he's gay offends you?
