Scratchy, I think you should answer the ads which resonate with you, definitely, a musician can only spread themselves so thin. However, to figure they won't have anything going on professionally is judging them too.

My husband's best friend lives up in Chico, CA. He and some of his co-workers got together and started rehearsing after work. Now these guys are playing casinos on the weekend, and they get party offers from other people. I saw a few videos and they had more people at their gig than we've ever had at any of ours. So, you just never know.

If you want to play with someone right now, you're going to have to choose. Sometimes the people who look the most promising with all the backing, record label interest, and so on wind up petering out. While the garage tinkerers wind up taking it to the next level.

Just be open minded, that's all.

And all the guys in the ad said was they didn't want to spend all weekend recording; no they're not the most ambitious guys but it would beat jamming in your room. Meanwhile you keep looking for folks for your band.

I'm used to practicing 3 times a week with a group, sometimes 2, but once a week for original material for a gig could take 3 months. Everything these guys say seems to be about being on a leash. Everything just sounds far too predictible with all the shots already called. I know I seem hard-headed about the ad because I don't even have a band right now, but I do need a little more optimism for motivation.

If I was friends with those guys I would most likely just hang out and do random jam sessions to get my feet wet.

Me? I grew up in Concord CA. I've lived in the east bay my whole life pretty much, except for a short time in Orland CA which is nothing but a farm town.

I get told I look familiar a lot. When you lived in CA I didn't have a beard. Back then I had really long black hair...but pretty much wore the same thing, and hung out with all the punks and hesions(long-hairs).

If you were in my area you probably did see me, cause I was always out and about.
