Heh, all my friends that were musicians have already played with me. Suprisingly, the majority of them just quit playing music altogether, which I don't understand. I mean, most of these guys were really good but honestly, they didn't care to go that far. Local weekend gigs were as far as they wanted to go. When I was a lot younger tons opportunities were available too, and the majority of my friends didn't even have jobs at the time. They should have tried the experience out.

I was always the last man standing. One band would split up, and then I'd find another band. Some of the guys I played with just didn't like each other to begin with. I should have realized that it was a recipe for disaster. Most of the bands I played in lasted 2-3 years. None of us knew anything about music business either, so guarantees weren't something we tried to get. But, you can't expect too much when you're trying to get a following.

It seems like a lot of you folks here have had some good luck finding people on the net to jam with. I'm still looking, and will continue to, but I'm thinking that I stand a better chance just asking around and seeing who knows who. That's the way it's always worked for me anyways. I gotta admit, the Bay Area is pretty dry right now. It used to be flourishing.

Side Note:Ah, later today I'm going to find this Industrial Metal track I played guitar on. I layed some riffs down to this thing and then it got mixed down in this dude's studio. I'll post a thread when it's uploaded. No leads, but it will give everybody here a better idea of my style with good production.

Man, when I hear you guys that live in or around large metro areas having difficulty finding players it just amazes me I found the guys I did here in BFE.

Thank the Lord !

Krul, I feel your pain man. I've always been the one with the drive; the one that wanted to get out there, play shows, experience everything that came my way, and have fun. Some of my best mates from bands gone by were just content to do the minimum, but were usually the first ones to complain about not getting paid very well after a show.

I've sacrificed a lot in my life, be it time, money, blood, sweat, or tears. It was always about the music for me. But as I get older, and my time becomes more and more valuable to me for my wife and kids, I find that I'm focusing more and more on trying to get a little return on investment.

I'm trying to get a cover band going now because I know that I can get $100 or more, per person, per night, with the right group and the right setlists. I still want to write and jam, but the money has just become more of a necessity. Is that a bad thing?

It's only a bad thing if you feel like it is man.

If your comfortable with where your at with music ... it's all good.

God bless a man dedicated to his family.

We need more men like that.

If you can make music your job, then you got it made. Music is just as much a job as anything else, and someone's gotta do it.

Thanks Sans, and I do feel comfortable where I'm at for now. But like any true musician, I'll never truly be satisfied. I'll always want more in the long run.

Krul man, if I could put food on the table, a roof over my family's head, and smiles on their faces just by playing, I'd be the happiest man alive. =) And I know my wife would love not having to work too. lol

They all know how much music means to me and they push me harder than I ever could to be successful. My 5 year old daughter wants to be a "drummer rockstar" like her daddy. She's my biggest fan. lol
