There are a lot of good drummers in this area. But on the downside, a lot of them have had their fill of clubs and declining wages. Actually this area is full of good or adequate musicians. It seems that most of them are not into forums. Most are computer illiterate.

I can vouch for the computer illiterate part. I'm slowly trying to expand my knowledge of forums and internet self-promotion.

I bet, that you can find, and keep a good drummer, if you gave him point$ on the $ong (recording), or a percent on the "Band". (I think they're getting $mart to the Mu$ic Indu$try), and don't just want to play to meet groopie$. When I record a $ong, I think of it a$ a $peculation that there ju$t might be $ome income generated from it. I create because I HAVE to. But I al$o know that I cannot put a dollar value on it.

Scratchy,
You $eem to really be focu$ed on the monetary aspect.
( not a bad thing )
But there has to be more commitment than just making some buck$.

Inve$tment$ take time to pay out.

That include$ investment$ of time energy and talent.

We have a "band of brothers" attitude.

Are we all equally invested in any one aspect of the project ?
No.
But as long as each invests fully, to his ability, whether that be monetarily, talent, or just muscle to haul the amps on a given day.

We will succeed in our quest.

I understand Sans, just making a suggestion from past experience. Not everyone in the band, especially back-up personnel, will be as committed as the "Leader", "Owner of band property", "Originator". I've found myself paying back-up musicians plenty of times in the past, as well as giving up points on my song copyrights. And like I said in my post, I create because I have to. The business side of music can become gross, ugly, backstabbing, and fickle at times. If I sound 'focused on the money', it's because I also have a business degree, and do enjoy a roof over my head, and food in the gullet.

Tis cool man.
Believe me I understand, being a family man and all.

I'd love to invest 20K into my project this week.
Lucky to scrape up $20.00 for gas.

I AM NOT A PREMIER BANDMIX MEMBER THEREFORE THE FEW SKIN WHACKERS WHO HAVE "VIEWED" MY PROFILE (DID THEY EVEN BOTHER TO LISTEN TO THE TWO DETOX DEAN SONGS OR NOTICE I INCLUDED MY EMAIL ADDRESS?) ARE OUT OF REACH. JUDGING BY THE LACK OF AUDIO ON THEIR PLAYER AND RATHER VAGUE "NOW SEEKING" I'M PROBABLY NOT MISSING ANYTHING. SORRY, NO OFFENSE TO THOSE DRUMMERS OUT THERE WHO ARE PROFESSIONAL, RELIABLE, PASSIONATE AND ADDICTED TO THEIR INSTRUMENT (DOES THIS VIOLATE ALL LAWS OF KNOWN PHYSICS IN GENERAL?). OKAY, I KNOW I SOUND VERY CYNICAL. WELL LOOKA' HERE BUBBA: I AM HALF THE BATTLE MYSELF, AND YES, I MEET ALL THE CRITERIA MENTIONED ABOVE. I'M A LEAD VOCALIST, GUITARIST, SONGWRITER, MASTER OF THE BOSS DR 670 AND KORG D1600 DIGITAL STUDIO (LISTEN TO THE BANDMIX SONGS, ITS ALL ME). NOW I HAVE A BASS PLAYER FROM CROATIA WHO IS CHOMPING AT THE BIT TO GET OUT THERE AND PLAY. I WOULD IF THE CLUB OWNER CONSIDERED US A "BAND" - BUT HE SAY "YOU GUYS NEED A DRUMMER, THEN I GIVE YOU 45 MIN SLOT ALL ORIGINAL METAL, I PAY YOU X-AMOUNT............." SO I PUT AN AD ON CRAIGSLIST DIRECTING ANY INTERESTED DRUMMERS TO CLICK ON THE URL, SONGS PLAY, THEY LIKE THEY AUDITION, THEY DON'T NO DEAL. SO FAR NOTHING. YOU KNOW WHAT I THINK? I THINK DETOX DEAN IS TOO DEMANDING FOR DRUMMERS IN PHOENIX, TOO TECHNICALLY COMPLEX. THAT'S JUST TWO OUT OF 12 ORIGINALS, AND THOSE ARE THE SIMPLE ONES! I CHALLENGE ALL DRUMMERS IN THIS BOILING DESERT TO STEP UP AND BLOW MY HEAD CLEAN OFF, SO-TO-SPEAK. OH, YOU'LL GET PAID, WHEN WE GET PAID! BRING IT ON!

Yo Dean, your material is tight. If I were in your area, I'd totally look you up. Good luck man. I hope you find someone to take on the challenge.

Dean, try musiciansconnection.com. You can post an ad for free if you're seeking. I posted an ad Wednesday and I've already got three contacts. If you're looking, it's best to use as many avenues as possible.

Good luck.

Thanks all, I always come away from these forums with SOMETHING - like the new musician resources Chaeya offered up. Calmed this high-strung fool down. I should know better. I have been through the audition process more times than I can recall and its either the first guy or several months or more down the road. And hey, its not a one-sided deal right? I'm sure there are some drummers out there who are looking to get something going and are finding musicians who are not even in the same book let alone on the same page. Gotta go, my bass player needs me to send him tablature for the bass parts I wrote on the two bandmix songs. First bassist who actually wanted to play MY bass parts and not come up with his own. Very nice. 8)
