I'll do that, as soon as i get my macbook fixed. The only time sound comes out of the main speakers is when i plug headphones in the jack. Make sense to anyone?

But the mic is totally fried.

sorry to dig this back up, but would a cover song be ok? I'm no good at coming up with my own original song from scratch. I can come up with bass parts in my sleep, but as to getting the initial progression down, I'm no good.

What's "Practice"?

haha, gotcha. I'll probably use another song, and just rewrite the bassline to it. I'd rather be a bassist than guitarist, anyway.

Yes, the Zoom, the Flip, the Sony Bloggie, any of those will work. You can get a pretty decent sound and picture on them.

Yes, but how is the sound?

I've seen plenty of impromptu cam vids, but few with any real sound that was GOOD.

I've got no money. College student here. I've got a macbook pro, I just can't get a take I like. I'm having trouble calibrating the compressor in garageband.

As far as hand held recorders go, check out the Zoom Q3. Here's a link to a vid shot with 2 of them. Great audio and video quality.

The video belongs to a gentleman by the name of Bob Gatzen who happens to be a brilliant drummer and product designer/tester.

I bought a cheap still pic Canon camera with video. I used it on my videos. I actually would have been satisfied with the sound but mine had a crackly noise in the audio circuit. Others do not, I checked.

I actually could have had far better sound if I had taken the time to work with position of the amp and camera. But it was only me playing guitar.... so why bother? On the other hand, you don't ever know where they might show up if you don't delete them. So it might be a good idea to do a vid/sound check first.

After bills I've got no money either. Your Macbook will work just fine with some free software. Just don't record like me and you'll be ok. As long as you remember not to crank it up like you do live(like I have) then you'll be fine, and you won't blow my computer speakers when I listen to your stuff.
