Wow, I've been away and look at all the fun I missed.

Glen, I'm not gong to argue with you because I'm fairly sure we're both set in our beliefs and it's not going to get us anywhere.
And I think that if you read what I wrote we said pretty much the same thing.

Thanks for the kind words about my tunes. I'm hopefully at the end of a long bout of writers block. I'll post some of my tunes I just wrote but haven't completely finished yet...

Ciao

Yep.....Seattle

Cool Ciao. Welcome to the real world of a America. We protect musicians very well, here thanks to organizations such as ASCAP. We just don't have any way to coddle musicians doing a bar gig using other peoples material and letting them know that they are the ones actually breaking the rules.

It is that sort of European thinking that doesn't understand I AM NOT GOING TO LET YOU STEAL FROM ME. Thats why we have guns and you don't.

Glen, I believe his name is Dean, not Ciao. Ciao is Italian for goodbye. I thought all of you goodfellas in NY and NJ would know that lol.

Glen, take a Valium, dude. Can't you have a calm discussion about how things are done around the world without going into a f*cking political rant? Can't you allow someone ELSE have that calm discussion? I, for one, found the topic interesting, until you started up the same old bullshit rant about how tough everything is for you & how unAmerican someone's being just for bringing up a topic of discussion. He said nary a thing that should have gotten your ass on your shoulders in any way. Jeez, man, you even went off on him for simply saying "ciao?"What the f*ck's wrong with that? He didn't make an attack on your beloved system. He didn't make an attack on you. He only described how things were done elsewhere.

I'd like to hear more about it.

He even showed appreciation for your kind words about his music. I think he was very gracious to us all, considering the welcome he got from you. You owe him an apology, imho. If anyone's 'hard ass' needs breaking, it ain't the Stranger's.

Stranger, Your music sounds like one of Texas favorite sons Lyle Lovett Shameless Nights sounds just like him! In Phantom Lovers the vocals have a totally different sound there is just something about the mood of this song that just grabs you (a very haunting sound in a happy sort of way) Bloody Moon is great! Did you write these songs Bro. if so you are a great writer! I dig your music. :D

JH - I see where you get the Lyle Lovette reference from his style on that Shameless Nights tune.

Phantom Lovers is also a pretty cool tune, but with a totally different feel. If Ian Anderson had sung it, it would have fit on Aqualung.

Bloody Moon - good folky/southern rockish feel to this one. The flute gives it that little Celtic touch. Sweet melodies & good lyrics, Stranger.

The Moon & Mexico - good tune, but your voice isn't dirty enough for this one, imho.

Punk Rock Barbie - I like your guitar & dobro work. This one is the weakest of the collection, which is saying something, cuz this isn't all that bad.

I like this guy's work.

Um... Opening Can-O-Worms now...
Just a clarification regarding "playing a Beatles tune at a bar gig"

From the ASCAP website:
"Some people mistakenly assume that musicians and entertainers must obtain licenses to perform copyrighted music or that businesses where music is performed can shift their responsibility to musicians or entertainers. The law says all who participate in, or are responsible for, performances of music are legally responsible. Since it is the business owner who obtains the ultimate benefit from the performance, it is the business owner who obtains the license. Music license fees are one of the many costs of doing business."

Most venues including bars, city park & rec., state fairs etc. who offer live music pay an annual music license fee to Harry Fox for this service and it covers the performers. We play several Beatles tunes so I checked it out.
