Anyone out there into instrumental post rock? I've been in a band with a couple of my buddies playing it for the past two years:

Pretty much everything is covered by the description on our profile, but if you want to know anything else just ask. We're recently active again and playing a show in northern Vermont on August 21st. I'm interested in opinions, except for ones involving adding vocals.

I do 50 - 60 instrumentals, all different styles, all originals.
What's "instrumental post rock?"

Post rock has been around for a while now. It's not really new at this point. It basically takes a standard rock group and completely changes the way the instruments are used. There's a much larger focus on atmosphere than on "riffs"; technical ability is largely ignored in favor of sound equality (which can be appealing to some people).

Unfortunately it can get monotonous pretty quickly because it's a heavily overused formula by this point, but there are some bands out there that do it really well (see Maudlin of the Well's last album, Sigur Ros, GY!BE, etc.)

(I actually haven't listened to the OP's music, I'm just saying what I think about the genre)

@Triangulum - Yea, I hear you. Our group is a little more focused on the rock aspect of it. We try and keep the focus on the flow of the song (rhythm, melodies) and not distract people with words. I feel that in a song with vocals, even if the instrumentals are spot on, your average listener will not pay attention to them and simply listen to the words in the song. The instrumentals simply become background noise. I do like groups like Sigur Ros, but we're trying to be more like Ghosts and Vodka or American Football without the words.

If I was at a party with Kenny G playing in the background I would leave as this would be one very boring party. I would suggest a few live sets of Phish. That would make a good party

No one would invite a slug like you to a party, Shatya. Who you kidding? Take your virus-laden spam elsewhere.

Oh! Almost forgot! I also reported your sorry butt.

I don't believe Sathya is a person. It's just computer driven garbage. It's a shame Bandmix can't keep Sathya from posting but the name would change to protect the guilty...
