The P.R.O.'s in the places that feature coverbands here in Houston has really gotten to be a problem. I have in the past lost gigs and known musicians whom have lost gigs due to this. I believe that coverbands really keep some music ALIVE and selling. There are all kinds of examples and you guys know them the STANDARDS that every band plays in their genre. So in effect the Big Rich Co. are struggling now because technology has PASSED them up making them OBSOLETE and there own rufusal to ADAPT is now becoming a problem to them! So now they are wanting to charge little bands in small town U.S.A. the very folks that are keeping the music alive. This is what pisses me off. It is still big corporate pissing on the little guy. In the past I have done the original scene played written copyrited all of the above. It has caused me NOTHING BUT HEARTACHE! I don't play music just for money I have the passion driving me that every serious musician has but I do play for extra income. So covermusic is what pays me the most moola. In houston there is an Okay original scene you can make $30.00 to $50.00 a night LMFAO! or you can make $100.00 to $250.00 a night playing covers. Those are per individual musician figures by the way. Basically an original band can make $250.00 a gig (if they are lucky) and the min. for coverbands is $500.00 to $2000.00 if you can keep them dancing.

Oh and for the record I have played a LOT of Holiday Inns they are some of the best paying venues and ONE OF THE BEST CROWDS AROUND!
The One on the Galveston Seawall was a regular gig for my old band Cruise Control and from the first downbeat they were dancing screaming and very responsive and the place was PACKED the entire night. One of my Fav. places LOL

EWWWWWWW, the holidays inns round here are naaaaasssttyyy. They are packed with drunks and the guys that get thrown out of the better places to water because they get loud and out of control.

It's the epitome of the term "cheesey dive"!!!!

Gimme a real bar or hell, even a frat/sorority over that brand of smokey dung hole. lol

Reading comprehension problem? I've never played a Holiday Inn. Have played a Pizza parlor though.

Still waiting to hear about your next gig, Mr. Garbled Synthesized Incoherent Pathetic Music "Artist" Man. Or your last gig. Or any gig, for that matter.

Poser.

'Mad'? At a troll? That's rich.

When's your next gig, Mr. Poser? Will you be doing a single, or will you have the entire Imaginary Band with you? :D

The entire imaginary band, of course.

lol

Feel better now?

PS: The sodium naproxen is metabolized by the liver, so don't take more than 2 at a time for your headache.

Then again, you could just take off that hat.

LMAO

Not down here Capt. they are some of the Classier venue's LMAO! Thats how Low it is in TEXAS! Seriously though you can make a grand a night. We were a 3 piece so you do the math. I took great pride in having a great sound system and the band sounding like there were 4 or 5 people in the band. From time to time I would add a 4th or 5th person. But with the right 3 people and a 7000 watt system and the wifey running sound (she's damn good at it) we would all make BANK! 8)
Oh yeah and the naproxen won't do it for yours truly give me the VICOTIN! YEAH BUDDY! :P

Oh you said a mouthful Jay, I have noticed some inconsistencies across the US, as in one Holiday Inn here in NJ is nothing like another in Texas.

But you already know, everything is bigger (and better) in Texas.
(freaking hotter too, wtf is with the weather of late?)

NJ sucks, don't bother with it as it's like a pseudo-NY minus the fun part.

Its hotter than 10.000 mother ####s well its hot Capt! The heat index here in H-town has been 110 for the past 2 weeks the actual temp has been 100 and this is a cool summer LOL! Earlier today the power plant at work went out and I didn't have a computer all day  So me and the boys at work got together and decided it was time for a ROAD TRIP! so we went to HOOTERS and did some um well we had a few BREWSKI'S that made us fill all nice and cool!
Some of the Holiday Inns down here are kinda cheezy but for the most part they are well paying gigs. I have played some
sh!tholes that paid well I don't mean to sound like a sellout or anything but to me money talks and you know what walks, well maybe I am a sellout LMAO! I just want to play some good music and make some money!
