Oh yea.. This show was great on so many levels.
Here's the deal. The Headliner was a band called One Pin Short. They've been getting most of the killer gigs in town. They have a manager who's one of the biggest promoters in Vegas (the guy who puts on Reggae In The Desert). They also have endorsements from Gibson. A lot of press. You name it.
We've been getting our highest paying gigs from another promoter who books us for Green Valley Ranch, Mandalay Bay, etc.. And what's been happening is, he's been alternating our gigs with One Pin Short. But anytime we play together, OPS is billed as the headliner.
From what I understand, there were more promoters at this show looking to book a premier Reggae act. Reggae has a big fan-base here in Vegas.
When we played this show, we hit a freaking grand slam. There was over 1,000 people in our crowd, and we had a big number of them singing our songs, dancing and cheering like crazy. We just had another killer night right at the right time. The feedback we got from the other music industry people was off the charts. The biggest and most heard compliments we heard was that we had complete command of the crowd. The energy level was through the roof.
I don't want to say anything bad about the other bands, we do like them. They're good people. But we wanted to handle our business, and we were focused on it. We wanted to show that we deserved to be noticed. And that's exactly what we did. When we were done, most of the crowd left. Our fans showed up to support us and that's as good of a feeling as anything. It was unexpected that so many would show up.
This show single-handedly landed us a lot of Winter Casino gigs. We had promoters and events people giving us cards and swapping phone numbers for a good while after the show. However, we do hold this particular promoter as our priority. He was the first one to take a chance on us when we played our first House of Blues gig and we didn't have this kind of fan base.. And he's been supporting us ever since. And that night he was extremely happy with us.
Loving life?? Hell yea! This show was what it's all about.
