Thanks SP! I appreciate that you took the time to listen.
Try clicking the square in the top right corner of the player to have it pop out on it's own and avoids the adds.
I had to record these as 1 take on 1 track doing vocals and guitar together. Maybe I could have played a little lighter but I was sick as hell and couldn't really sing very well; pretty weak and often off key actually, but I did the best I could at the time.
Hey ya gotta jump on a free recording session if it comes by, no matter how you feel. Especially when he drove for 3 hours to do it for me

"Slow Burn" - Your vocal attack makes it difficult for me to understand all your lyrics. It's a personal failing, I fear. I like this, for what it is, which is simple bluesy folky stuff. I think the simplistic theme is taken just a tad too far, for me, though. I'd like a little something to mix it up, but I love the end.

While the commercial runs, as I wait to hear more, I have a lil something to say to you, though, Hayden. You seem to get upset that ppl don't check out your stuff enough, but I don't see you giving out many critiques, ya know? Sometimes ya gotta give to get. You don't seem very interested in other ppl's music, while you seem to get upset that ppl don't pay yours the attention you think it deserves. Perhaps if you were a bit more involved, things would change.

"Whore Love" - I've heard this before. I like it.
"Id" - The wandering melody loses me, when combined with the overall slow tempo. It's like the most of the meat of the melody is totally dependent upon the chord structure, rather than the melody pulling the chords along. Am I making any sense?
"Reprieve" - I find myself wishing you had more instruments in your recordings. The hammering/plucking acoustic just doesn't make it for your stuff, by itself. This cries out for b/u vox, too. I love the change in this! Very sweet, Hayden. Coming out of the change, back to the main theme, is a bit awkward, though.
Overall, I'd like to hear you sing in a different register, ya know, like out loud, in full volume. I seem to be missing the power you need to produce, imho.

SMILE - it's the safest way to spread your cheeks!
Nailed!
True I don't spend enough time critiquing others music (actually I just don't say anything sometimes) since I have several sites to visit each day.
My voice is pretty lacking on these recordings because I was sick as a dog when I recorded them (see earlier reply).
I wish I had the rest of the instrumentation. My songs just don't express well without them; what you hear is for the most part completely different than what I hear in my head with everything.
Thanks for the critique Philby. I wish I could disagree more but ...
"it is what it is"
P.S. "Shallowtown" has hit #15 on the ezfolk charts
