Until today, I always thought I was computer literate enough to delete an account on an internet message board.
Not anymore!
I've tried twice to leave Bandmix, but I'm still here. I followed all the directions on my account page, but no dice!
HELP! My species can't breed in captivity! :(

You have to become a Premium Platinum member first, in order to delete an account.

Is it just too painful to just walk away from BandMix and not turn back? :?

You're just a chip on the worldwide web
On-line now it's in your head
Logged into a social binary code
Random access memory cannot erode

Whether you're logged on or not
They'll keep hacking until they spot
You stored on a remote desert isle
And boot you back into the file

The only hope is the system failing
Delted from all archival dwellings
Never recalled or printed out
Reintegrated by a corsair mouse

All kidding aside, it is rather spooky being held a virtual prisoner on an internet site. :(
The reason I want to bail out of Bandmix is because, for the first time since 1974, I don't want to be a professional musician anymore. My heart's not in it since Country Music turned into garbage. My last paying gig was April 2003. And even if, by some miracle Country Music somehow regained its soul, I'm getting too old to get out and chase the dream again. I just don't have the energy, especially since I don't want to play today's souless Nashville Product.
Besides, the live music club scene died many years ago. Youngsters think I'm exaggerating when I tell them we kept 4 and 5-piece Country bands gigging five and six nights a week back in the 1970's and 80's.
I don't want to advertise myself anymore, but, because of some kind of technical problem here, it looks like my profile will be on Bandmix long after I'm dead and gone.

I can commiserate with you. Although I rather insist on getting paid for my musical services I can understand your frustration with the music scene. There's got to be others in your area that feel the same way you do. How about playing music for the love of it? Go into a project knowing up front that you're not trying to gig very often or not at all and get together for your own pleasure. A lot of people are doing that these days. Some people are doing it because there's so few gigs available. Although the mainstream country these days seems very plastic to me there are a few contemporary country artists who are bringing back a more traditional sound. For instance check out John McLeod (I think he's got a Myspace music page). He's old school country. There's still people who want to play country the way it's meant to be played....

It's funny. We have a little country store out here...a former gas station. Every Sunday, local bluegrassers go there & just jam their hearts out. It's actually kinda neat to see.

It was even in some PBS documentary about the dying mom & pop stores, a cpl years ago.

The old guy died, & the son hates bluegrass, & swears that once his mom is gone, "the last note will already have been played" at French's.

I'll miss it, even though I only stop in, like, maybe three times a year on a Sunday...

I feel the same way about "country music". Ever since the toothpaste company suits killed it for the sake of selling white strips to teen girls it has been nothing but crap for the most part. I find it rather like bad rock a billy with distorted rock style guitar sounds. Not at all what it used to be. There are some good acts out there, but most of the real country music stars have been doomed to the casino circuits. A lot of musicians don't like the way rock has gone either. We're just relics playing relics.
Jamming with other guys who like the older stuff might be enjoyable enough to keep music alive in your life, as mentioned earlier. My first love was big bands and that changed to rockabilly when that hit the music scene. I also played in a lot of country bands and I share the same feelings you do about what it has become. Pretty much country in name only. It'll be back again.
Meanwhile a DAW can be a never ending source of amusement. Just play for the sake of keeping it alive. You can always collaborate on line with other musicians. I do that when I hear a song I like enough to want to play on it. Creating your own music on a DAW is pretty stimulating, and you can always compose what you want to hear. Music is a personal craft anyway. I quit for a good number of years because I felt like you do. Now I don't think that was such a good idea. But now music is enjoyable again at long last.
But if you miss sick twisted people, Bandmix is a fun place to hang out. :D

I had a bad idea, get the page removed. Post insanely vulgar comments all over it, and post some anti bandmix pictures. and I bet they remove your page faster than you could click "update"

lol just a joke of course, but it would get your page removed.
