The nice cop on the corner in the blue uniform that was there to help you no longer exists; they only hire people with that punk mentality now and dress them in paramilitary gear. They only help each other and their fascist leaders... you are only a lowly possible perp and your only right is to shut up and get on the ground.
There aint a chance in hell that they'll EVER make me lye face down on the ground like a dog!

I don’t know Hayden the last thing I would want to do is antagonize cops, I don’t know how it is by you in Kentucky but in Manhattan cops have a big chip on their shoulders, most of them use their badge as if it were a privilege rather than a responsibility as it should be.

I do believe that there are still honest and honorable men in the force from better days, that are in senior positions. I also hope and believe that when some suit gives them orders to begin gun confiscations they would tell them "no and neither will any of my men".
If the suit insists then he and any superior above him endorsing such orders should be arrested on the spot for the crime of treason to the constitution!

I may wind up on the ground but they'll have to do. I won't volunteer to do it myself!

Even Martiansburg, Sheperdstown, & Berkeley Springs, small-time towns like these are fulla the young cocksure bullie-type kids running around flashing their badges like it's a license to kill. These bullet-heads are the only ones the force seems to be recruiting anymore, in virtually every area of the country.

We should all be very very worried about this trend, as the men & women with self control & respect are replaced by the jack-booted thugs.

Frankly, I wonder if the trend is due to this type of person being the only one interested in the job, or if the powers that be aren't girding themselves for some hard-core takeover of the populace.

I place all the blame on this trend firmly in the hands of modern metal music, with the growling vocals & pure rage...well...that & the video games...

That is so unfair and untrue.
I cannot believe an intelligent man would generalize is such a manner.

I have provided care to officers whom have given the health and even their lives in order to protect and serve.
Good friends with whom I've trained laughed and loved for more years than some of our fellow BandMixers have been alive.

Your words are as wrong, divisive, and as prejudiced as anything that officer may or may not have done.

All men are capable of great evil and or great kindness.
Any generalization outside that premise is just dead ass wrong.

Perhaps it's the trend for "zero tolerance" in all things that we face.

I dunno, sans, but I haven't met a new cop yet that I would trust with much, other than harassing the public with trivial citations.

In days past, a cop would turn his head occasionally, after letting you see that he knows, & there could have been dire consequences for your actions. These days, they are very gung ho about getting their collars, even when other methods would be far superior to the well-being of the offender, & thus, the entire community.

This trend also contributes to that entire "us-vs-them' mentality, that many police get filled up with. At the same time they are busting little Johnny for something fairly trivial, they're turning their heads at what fellow police do, which CAN hurt the community.

We need to carefully pick & choose those who would protect & serve, & we also need to allow for ppl to make minor mistakes that aren't hurting others, without feeling the need to bust 'em up to the very limits of the law. We're becoming a very intolerant society, & it's filling our courts with junk that has no place in court.

I have no doubt that your right in much of what you say Phil.

But I see these guys whom get run over by assholes while just trying to keep our highways safe from drunken fools on a Saturday night.
Or shot ( and die ) trying to keep some dickhead from beating his wife in front of Wal Mart.
And they have family too.

I could not do their job for sure. To do it right takes a special person.

At the end of a high speed chase I would be so hopped up I'd likely just shoot the bastard. Nor would I get punched or cut trying to make an arrest.
It be, BANG BANG in the dumpster with em.

Zero tolerance attitude is part of it.
Zero concern for your fellow man by the general public would be a much larger part.

I agree any generalization is wrong that is why I said "most" and not all cops in Manhattan.

Being a police officer can be a stressful job at times and some can handle the stress better than others but not all the stress is generated by the job, some of these cops show up to work stressed out already due to unrelated reason of their occupation, these are the guys who generate bad press for Police forces.

In the case of the New York cyclist in the video the NYPD acted correctly by firing the offending cop, but it leaves everybody wondering if there hadn't been a video would the outcome have been the same?

I'd venture to say no (I hope I'm wrong) the outcome would have been that the young cyclist would have being charged found guilty and sent to prison.

Such are the consequences of misplaced and misused power.

BULLSHIT!!!

I have more than enough experience with them to know better; I was arrested for AI with no buzz whatsoever!
I was arrested and charged with felony cultivation because there were plants in "the neighbors" yard.
Both times other officers were present and knew it was bullshit! The one transporting us and the jailer concurred on this verbally.
They cover each others crimes (violating civil rights by arresting innocents) and it IS prevalent on the forces just about everywhere I've lived, and that's a lot o places!

When I was a teenager I was twice given a ride home by a cop because I was too drunk to drive.
once I was told to take my little bit of pot and go home; I was drinking but driving fine...

Think that still goes on now?

Yes it's a dangerous job but that doesn't mean they shouldn't treat ALL citizens with respect and dignity....... it worked for our fathers and grandfathers didn't it?

And you called it right Phil - Jack Booted Thugs!
