I'm so sick of turning on 'new rock' radio stations and hearing overcompressed, beezwax coated imitation fruit. Almost everything sounds the same, except then they will throw in a pink floyd song or something.
I've heard pretty much the exact same programming ploy in different areas of the country.
Feakin stupid.

Turn the bass up a bit on this one.
A year or two old but pretty interesting to me.
A break from the normal shite.

Haha, looks like '6' years old, if the youtube note is accurate.
Time flies as you're getting old.

It's a bit too monotonic for me. I didn't make it past the 2 minute mark.

It looked like an interesting idea, but the delivery just lost me...

you're right on with the over-compressed thing though..
that's something I noticed several years ago, when I could feel my ears reacting ...strangely to the music
It was explained that what I was hearing was over-compression: or, a lack of dynamic range: I.E. nowhere for the sounds to go, no 'breathing room' if you will

Stupid FAT over-compression!

I agree about the over-compression, too. It all sounds as if there was only one producer, one mixer, & one recording engineer in the whole world, these days. They've effectively removed all personal nuances from music, & dynamics are a thing of the distant past. Of course, when all you're doing is selling on itunes, it doesn't even matter, does it? You couldn't hear the differences anyway...

You have hit on the root of the problem Phil. The digital age is great for fast and wide distribution of gimmicky or "popular" music. Radio is a sales media. A place trying to attract the public to advertisers wares. It is not a "music venue" therefore they will whore to whatever mediocrity that general public will accept. Same reason there are nothing but "Judge" , "Chef" and "cunt" reality shows on the TV.

Yep. We used to sneer at "FM quality," but even that was better than itunes!

Where was that post about sending music in for TV exposure? I wanted to add something to that, so I'll do it here.

EXACTLY. All I hear on TV is OVER COMPRESSED, distortion. Hardly much else to be honest. Is it a studio problem? Or just a lack of verve/Imagination?

Nothing wrong with Rock at all folks. I love it. It's all I hear though in the media, especially TV.

Avoid radio
Seek local music
Explore other genres (classical, jazz, fusion, etc)

Wow! That is the result of our tiny age difference. That thought never occurred to me. I always thought that when a.m. went to almost all talk that that was perfect for it.

Yep Phil, but it's art. Not the same old same old.
The lyrics have a element of danger to theml and the bass stuff sound like it sits on passing tones longly, which tingled my spidey sense.
Monotonic, but interesting to me.

Definitely interesting and different. The video was distracting.

Tiny age difference? I thought I have about 20 years on ya, Paul, being 55.

Btw, Paul - wassup with that 'misty-eyed' guy in the bands forum? I'm still laughing over here!

Lol at that misty lad! You think he just posted somebody else's music? Man it was mp3'd out.
Well it looks like we both underestimated each others age by about 5 years. I'm 40 in January. I thought you were 50.
