Okay...I've whined & complained more than enough about the ear infarctions, I know.

The tinnitus, though - it's a real problem. It wakes me almost every night.

Anyone have a cure...or something to relieve it?

I saw some ad on tv by a drummer who supposedly found a cure or a treatment...but when I tried to get that free sample, they wanted WAY too much info...

I can't seem to contact my homeopathic dude, now...guess I'll hafta do a drop in...

I always thought that was the amassed sound of thew whole globe? You know? Everything going on? I had it as a child, I think? Not sure if thats what you are hearing? It's almost a pinging sound, but not yet quite, if you pardon the pun?

I've worked around a lot of machinery over the year and thought that it might get worse, but so far, even when being in bands, studio, drums. So far it appears to be the same. Just the humdrum of the world, one constant note. So far as I know though, that note is not one on our register?

I have a light buzz all the time. Gunfire ? Gas plant compressors ? Loud music ? Who knows ?

I don't hear as well as I used to.

But I can still stalk in the dark.

Not sure if I got the same problem Phil, but my index finger is always stiff and sore as hell. Obviously from my barre chord frenzies.

I hear cicadas, crickets chirping, and all kinds of popping and clicking all the time. At least inn the summer time I know they might be there so it isn't as demoralizing. One day it quit for a little bit and I thought I went deaf.

I guess I have learned to live with it. On my old recordings I heard tape hiss. Now I hear the other in the background. The digital age didn't lower the noise floor for me. On the other hand, the old tape recordings don't sound much worse than the new digital ones do now.

If Im in a crowded loud room with lots of talking. I ussually cant hear the people talking at my table but can hear conversations across the room clear as a bell. I had a hearing test a couple of years ago, and the doctor said for my age I had typical hearing with minimal freq loss.

I guess you just get used to it. It does seem to get worse when Im stressed or really tired.

mine only ring if I rehearse or play a show without my earplugs, which I just recently, reluctantly began wearing..they make a huge difference, but I had to get used to not being able to hear every nuance of my playing, and I don't mean the notes, as much as how my finger pressure effects the harmonic clarity of the note..but once I got used to it, I woulf forget I had them in, and after the rehearsals,....ta da! no ringing.

A friend has it and he went to a lab and they established the frequency of the ring in his ears ... they then made a sound track with that frequency and put it on a CD. If his tinnitus start to act up he plays the CD and it seem to null it out and he's good for the day.

That's kind of odd JW. I have the same issues with background noise. I can hear the person I am talking too but they just sound like Charlie Brown's teacher. But someone 20 - 30 feet away ... are clear.

Phil, You have raised a very complicated music related issue ,aging, and the fact that doctors and now snake oil salesmen are jumping all over this.
Kids are playing MP3s in headphones off Ipods at decibels that are killer. yeah it sounds cool your blowing your ears out at "CONCERT" levels , but they don't realize the band on the stage is NOT standing in front of the main speakers.

Phil , you and I are getting older, Shoot , I'm gonna be 54 in a couple of days. I am lucky maybe,I don't know....I have no tinnitus. No hearing problems.

This may help. You have been through some stressfull times but take a look at your diet and make sure eating OK. Make sure you are getting all the nutrients we all need..... And the real scary thing. QUIT SMOKING! Craigs right.

After reading JWs AND Sans post this is really a Big deal. I don't have any answers. This is not funny at all.

Yeah, it's a real bitch. My wife is one of them 'low-talkers,' so I spend most of my time saying "WHAT?" I feel like a real old guy around her.

Between the fluids clogging up my ears & the noise that seems to be self-generated, it's a wonder I can hear anything at all. I'm getting real tiref of this sh*t.
