With muso's, I find it works to simply say "break a string," cuz it sounds so much less painful, & you can still have a good time even if you bust a string...
Unless you are playing a guitar with a whammy on it. Then all hell breaks loose when you break a string during a song.
When I used to play the clubs on lower 4th st in this town there were always at least 4 bands playing in different clubs up and down the street. We would all run the strip on our breaks to hear each others band. My friend who was a lead picker was next door one night when I came through the back door of the club. When I was passing the bandstand I reached up and detuned two of the strings on his guitar while he was taking a ride. I thought it was funny. Evidently way funnier than he thought it was.
Back then we had to wear suits. Talcum powder sprinkled on the drummers throne was great for a laugh. Limburger cheese planted in the Christmas stockings that hung from the singers mike was another great prank. It usually took them a while to figure out where that smell was coming from. Needless to say we all had some great times back in those days.
I hope you have a great time and everything goes well.
