They also catch bass.Beetle spins are an excellent lure as well. They are a staple in my tackle box. I actually prefer beetles by themselves without the spinner. Bluegill absolutely love'm. In fact this past Sunday I put a beetle on right after I caught the bluegills. I used the beetle in conjunction with a Wingit slip bobber and I had another even bigger bluegill on that got caught in a weedbed just out of reach of my net. Also a giant fish took my beetle and headed out towards deeper water and got tangled up in a dead tree, bye bye fish, wingit and beetle. That fish was most likely a big channel cat, yes I catch channels on lures quite often. The very best thing about beetles is that they are very stubby and short and most fish when they strike a beetle will get hooked since the hook is right at the end of the beetle. A lot of finicky fish will strike a lure at the very end and miss the hook, not so with a beetle.
