I'm saddened by our loss of Sen Byrd.

I frequently disagreed with the man, but had to admit that he seemed right more often than he not. He was also a passable musician.

He was a powerhouse, especially considering that he represented one of the historically poorest states in the Union.

Robert KKK Byrd ??

Or am I thinking of someone else ?

Perhaps I'm jaded but I can't for the life of me see anything wrong with getting rid of all of the career politicians.

One way or another.

Although I can see your point, sans, I have to admit that Sen Byrd did more for his state than most ppl - & yes, he voted most often as his constituents would have wanted him to, whether they were right or wrong. You also have to take into consideration the vast amount of time he worked, & what was going on in the country during those times. You cannot last that long without undergoing some huge changes, & I think he did rather well, considering his roots & his constituency.

He did as good a job as anyone could have, for over 50 years. He couldn't have done that in our present system without some making some questionable decisions, but, overall, I truly believe that he was one of the good guys who had both the country & his state's interests at heart.

It was a little freaky for me. I was reading the news of him being hospitalized early this morning, and I said out loud... "He's dead already." Sure enough, not much later they announced it.

What a sordid history that politician had though.

Maybe he'll find peace now.

philbymon,

If you go as far as possible in the opposite direction of how you felt about him, you will know what I thought about him. No need for me to say any more.

However, I believe that when someone become senile and gets up to mutter and babble incoherently at a podium, they should be removed from office.

Personally, I'm deeply saddened by his passing.

WV will never have his brand of reppresentation again. I don't care about most of the political mubo-jumbo, or even his brief affiliation with the KKK in his early years. I know how hard he worked for those he was charged to represent, and it will always be appreciated.

If I can get my hands on a record player, I may even break out one of his fiddle albums (my mom owns a few), and play it in tribute.

I'm not too sure that Obama wouldn't mutter and babble incoherently without a teleprompter...

You nailed that one. I agree. However that is no reflection on Byrd. But then there are a lot of them that sound like bloomin idiots whenever they open their mouths.

(I'm sincerely sorry idiots, I didn't mean to give you a bad name. I just cant use retarded in public anymore without someone pis$ing and moaning about it.)

But whenever I viewed the political channel on cable, and Byrd is was speaking, a lot of what he said didn't even sound coherent.

We all have been lied to for a really long time. And I have been lied to longer than most of you. I gave 6 of the best years of my life to the Navy. And the Gov re nigged on almost everything they told me when I joined.

Take back America? From who, Glen? The illegals or the government.? Both groups have it. One group wants it to be an all Spanish speaking extension of Mexico. And the Gov doesn't really even want it. Not in the least. That is why they are trying to destroy it.

"I pledge elegance to the flag and the peoples republic of " ... what ?????
