It's nice to know someone personally on the street there(Rigaud), in whom I can place trust and confidence, and hand a bank check to, and KNOW it will be used solely for it's intended purpose.

God help the Haitians

This is how I go about doing "charity".
I suppose I may be overly suspicious ( I,m also an asshole)
But I refuse to give my funds anyplace I cant be reasonably certain that I'm not funding " the dark side ".

Celtic, I would adopt a child or two in a heart beat, but that might make my husband's heart stop. Those kids look so happy considering the things that they have to deal with. Shooot, I'd have 'em in the marching band when they became teenagers.

THat's the way everyone should be. I would give funds only if I were confident that they would be used as they are intended.

You know what celtic?...
Can I send this man money? I'm sliding backwards into a financial hole, but... How much money does it take to make any difference?
I can't adopt, but, maybe if I can send this man something. That he will actually get and be able to use.

Hey GT, a right nice gesture.
I can give you the address and names etc, but I will tell you that
it costs an arm & a leg to send anything there.
DHL seems to be how it gets there, and it cost us like 75 bux or something to send a small packet of papers.

With that said, I could certainly send you some info, or option#2 is for you to send the check etc, to me and I would hand it to whoever is going next from this area, for hand delivery.
There's a fair number of folks adopting from Wayoum Timoun right here in Maine.

As far as what makes a difference: I would say pretty much anything.
We're in the process of asking the pastor there just how much money does what there, so I'll have a better answer for that question soon.

God bless ya,
R

Talk to the pastor and find out what can be of use, and I can send a check to you. I trust you.

Might not be much, but I was told in no uncertain terms by my father that I was to do this.

If I have to get the info and just go the DHL route then I will.

I'd like to get in on that action too Rich. But a personal check ?
That would take like months to clear my bank ... unacceptable from my personal financial status.
Could do like a money order or Cashier's Check ??
If your not a premium member I could message you, and zip and I could work out the details to save the expenses of transfer.

well done lads.
I applaud you , along with every other person who has chosen to sacrifice on behalf of others.

Another possibility I just realized is that we have a online donation
option:
http://www.adoption.gouette.com/

That would drop funds into a savings account & we would then have a bank check made out to the orphanage directly.

or

a bank check/MO made out to: "Wayoum Timoun" would do the trick.
I'd have to find his address again, for sending to him directly.
Also, sending DHL, we do have to let him know when it's arriving.

Sorry it's not easier, but things there are just so messed up right now.

BTW, you gotta see these pictures:

GT, yeah I do actually.
Very timely post...could be...providential timing.

There is now a website, that represents a true non-profit , supporting Wayoum Timoun orphanage solely.
The founders have adopted from there, and currently are adopting.

My wife just spoke with the wife of the couple last night at length about a number of thins relating to the orphanage.
It's"Servants for Haiti" and they now have online donations.

http://www.servantsforhaiti.org/

There's lots to see & read there.
In fact, I was browsing her art section last night, and my wife & I love what she does in that realm too!

I'm so glad you asked the donation question!
Perfect!

Let me know if there's anything else I can answer/do.
I can tell you that the needs are great.
The number of childern that are being taken in grows, and with that comes the need for additional staff, and all else that is needed.

Bless you fellows for wanting to make a difference.

Rich
