Daniel, shortly after the publication of the first KJV Bible was also the height of the Witch burning mania in Europe. I saw a memorial on the Esplanade at Edinburgh Castle to all those killed in the insanity of the Burning Times. Though they will never know exactly how many were murdered, the official total for just Scotland was 14,700.

The memorial is beautiful, with a nice plaque and a well that has alot of candles around it. Basically the theme was "NEVER AGAIN".

wow

Man I would love to see that. Hopefully someday soon me and the wife are going to be making a trip out to Ireland. I want to go see that haunted castle they have out there. It's supposed to be one of the most active places in the world supposedly. I gotta get me a barometer before I go though. They say that when the berometric pressure drops that is when they are about to do something physically.

I will have to keep Edinburg in mind for another trip over there. Sounds like there is alot of history out there. What else do they have out there as far as the church and the people? LIke I said I am always curious about this kinda stuff lol.

The funny thing about the witch trials there are also the witch triald here in the states. I read somewhere on the internet that during the salem witch trials in Mass. The local churches had more say and more power then there own democratically chosen government.

I'll have to go look it up again to see if I can find the website but it's crazy. You would think when the protestants got away from the catholic church and they ventured out to start anew they would leave all the old ways behind. Just like they say though if you don't know where you have been then you are doomed to repeat it again and again.

I couldn't agree with you guys more!!! Crusades, witch burning, abortion clinic bombings!!! All contradictory to the ways of the VERY TEXT they were SUPOSADLY defending!

I went to school and looked into the origional hebrew and Greek text as well, , I TOTALLY AGREE in some areas the KJV is a "shotty" translation.

But it's not far enough to mistake MOST OF the meanings.
I'll just end like this, Dan if you feel that after going over that, you've come to your own understanding, then great. Every man/woman's got to seek for themself and come to their own conclusion!

AT LAST, friend we agree on something!!!
I've enjoyed this guys. This kind of stuff is the exact thing that (I believe) God uses to prompt man to seek for himself! Thanks for all the input, text, theory's, believes, challenges, and passion.

That's what happens when you mix humans with institutions of any kind. The Iron Law of Oligarchy says that there will be, in any group or organization or society, a small group or person that rises to prominence over the others and eventually, if unchecked, will become abusive and repressive. I'm takling not only about churches, but governments.

This is why I reject churches of all kinds, even Pagan ones (I am a Pagan, and weirdly enough even they have a few churches). They are too likely to fall into the same trap they all do. And will.

All forms of organised anything fall into there own traps. Look at football and guy's using so much juice they look like a rolling ball of muscle. Football is an organisation as well as baseball hell the music industry is the same. They have that IRRA or whatever they rule over every record lable in the world. It's sickening to know that someone has that much power.

Churches and governments all have the same issues. Now are's isn't perfect but at least our government leaves us alone as individuals. I've seen governments ruled by religeon and i've watched there people suffer. Now why would a government ruled by religeon allow people to suffer. Because they were not of the same faith.

Can you believe that people would act that way? It's true I did 2 tours in Iraq and you would not believe what relideon does to a culture when it gets so powerful that it over takes everyone. God left that country a long time ago.

Would you want the same out here? OH but wait it would be different here lol that seems to be the rousing statement made by all things that are created evil lol. Everything would be better if we did this everything would be better if we did that. The only thing that would make anything better is if god or the All showed up and kicked all of our asses for being such idiots.

I stress again... Lay off the caffiene. Stuffs bad for you.

Ok, I feel the need to interfere on this argument.

True_calling, I agree with what your saying about playing in bars. But what I think you dont realize is that others will not share your view, no matter how much you defend or push it. "Let sleeping dog lie" is not found in Gods word, however I think it applies nicely to this discussion. If others want to walk through life with thier eyes closed, let them go with a warning. Trust me on this one, if God wants you to guide a person to salvation, not only will he put them in your path, but he will also give you the words to tell them! Trust in Jesus Christ and pray constantly for your next oppourturnity to reach out to others.

As for Irminsul and Mr. Stevens, I am suprised that you are both childish enough to beat on True_calling for what he posted. You both seem intelligent enough to be kind to others at least. But if you have nothing better to do with your time, then go ahead and tease, after all; I'm not one for waking sleeping dogs. This is a suggestion if I'm honest, and a Rhema if I'm boastful:

Those who mock God and his people will be held accountable for it.

Not to sound above anyone, but I think its also worth mentioning to Irminsul. You seem to be very into Witchcraft unless I missed my guess. If you are, remember that Jesus will still have you if you would turn away from the sin that entangles you. Most Christians will tell you that bieng involved in Witchcraft is a sin that God can not forgive, do me a favor and ignore them. They underestimate the power of my father

"They say that Jesus loves me, but I think that he loves in vain...
For I will not be silenced, and I will not be chained....
For I'm a son of the Horned One, who loves and lets me be....
My skin, my bones, my heretic heart are my authority."

You are dismissed.

WHOA NELLIE. LOL

Ah God said that you are making his ears hurt with all that racket.

He says that he will get to all you non-believers in good time, so sit back and relax while he gets around to you personally. lol

(God and I are tight, I am not on his list of people needing to be converted or convinced)

So true. So long as you stay the way you are. Change your life and follow Christ's teaching for a while and you'll see a changed in your friend the 'Horned One'. He'll never leave you alone, constantly trying to entice you to you're old ways again. He is quite content with where you are now, with your back turned from Christ.

Mwaaaahahahahahahaha!!! I would respond to that, but I am off to a blood sacrifice right now. See, goats really struggle unless you use a sharp blade, so I have some sharpening to do.

Io Evohe!

Lmao!!!! Oh crap, that was funny.

Okay, okay, let us avoid the whole religious subject. Too, too, controversial. I see this topic may be about Christian music, but yeah. It is just too much, so best to avoid it.

I see a big war could spawn from just joking around with this. God knows there have already been tons already.

Peace out, GuitarAnatomy.

citizen320,
I guess now you know that we have a wacky sense of humour here.
No hard feelings, I trust?
But, anyway welcome to Bandmix.

Yes True_Calling, welcome to bandmix. You'll find that this place is no different from the "real world" in that people will rag you for simply having a faith or being a Christian period. I'll take it one step further and throw a wrench in everybody's works. I won't play or even go into bars. I'll get everyone, even the Christians, against me by saying..... I also won't use instruments to praise God and Christ. I make music as an art form. To please me. It's what I do and who I am. My music rocks out sometimes, is somber and melancholy sometimes, and is just plain weird sometimes. That represents some of my musical influences. I also lead the singing at church. "Where 2 or more are gathered in my name....." that is worship. The way God wants to be worshiped has been laid out in the new testament and we were instructed there to "sing and make melody in your hearts". So we sing. That is all we do with music. As far as I can read in the new testament adding to the bible will put your soul in jeopardy - rev. 22:18.
*neanderpaul starts ducking*
