The link is not about Rush saying who should pay what - the link is about why Rush believes politicians are grand-standing - polls are telling them to, is his position. I supplied a link to what Rush said - so all I was saying is this entire thread was born out of a complete nonsequitor.

The original link could have just as easily been a link to a porn site, and then people I'm sure would draw the same conclusion "see! Rush LOVES OIL!"

Rush's comments are typical Rush. Something to elicit ATTENTION! He is an entertainer, first and foremost. It is just like the "I hope Obama fails!" comment. He sets the public up with a controversial comment, and then cries foul, when the liberal rags blast him for it. And then he elaborates to clear himself, when he knows very well how his comments will first be received. He is not a public servant, or charitable man of conscience. He is an ENTERTAINER! Only people take him seriously (on both sides of the aisle) and he laughs all the way to the bank... or pharmacy, whichever the case may be.

He is intelligent and especially... CLEVER. So he has some value (in the real world) of giving the public a different point of view. But my gracious... why defend him, as if he is a victim?

He knows EXACTLY what he is doing!

As to the "Shakedown" comment itself....

F*ck Rush Limbaugh! He is merely selling more ad space, and possibly indirectly defending the career of a politician who, instead, needs to retire. There was no shakedown. I'm VERY HAPPY that the Obama administration put pressure on BP to set aside a substantial amount of funds to settle claims, aid in clean-up or whatever other worthy efforts it can be applied toward! Corporations that large, have a jaded history of tying sh*t up in court for years and years, and eventually settling for FAR FAR LESS than what they should have paid out. There are HUNDREDS of incidents throughout our history, of a jury of Americans, deciding in favor of plaintiffs for large amounts... like 1.4 Billion, only to have the corporate lawyers appeal, and then years later, settling for 300 million.

They have already caused the worst environmental disaster in our history, likely destroying our beaches and area wildlife for DECADES! That's all the devastated families and businesses need, is to have to pay endless attorney's fees, through appeals and delays, added on top of what they are already suffering!

You can't credit Obama for the ONE GOOD THING he has done in the midst of this disaster... fine... But I will!

As was eluded to previously... this is NO TIME, to be playing political footsy, to boost ratings, during a time like this!
