I'd rather listen to a three (or two) chord rocker than a fifteen chord cluster f**k.
The number of chords is irrelevant.

Beauty is in the eye (ear) of the beholder.

Yup. I wrote that to my wife 20 years ago.

Then I can understand why 90.
Very nicely put together. I'm not a mushy sort of person but this got me.
Kudos.

Not a bad song, honestly. Fantastic vocals. Well written.

I noticed you couldn't hold back on relay the whole "Nashville" story...Why? Because it's all about credibility.

Do you have to impress me? No, but if you're going to come here and spout off about how easy songwriting is, then you better know what your talking about.

If I came off as a bit nasty, my bad.
Saying that anyone can write is like saying that anyone can be a doctor, lawyer, etc. All they have to do ius start doing it. That's b.s.

I haven't refined my skills for 20 years to be sold short like that.

As far as my Karaoke comment, you'll get no apology from me for it. I used to watch bands play in casinos-full bands-and I know the kind of money that they made (GOOD money). Then one day, I see this two piece band, doing exactly what you are doing. I asked them where the rest of the band was, and they replied "They don't pay us enough for a full band.". $1000 per night, and they don't make enough? REALLY?

I like the song, db, but I have to wonder if that was a one time thing.

Look, I'm not going to beat it to death (I probably already have), but the point is simple...you are wrong. NOT just anyone can (or should) do it.

I have to agree with this. Just my 2 cents...

Here's another one. This one features David Kempers on violin, of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra (they play covers).

How many do you want? I have all day.

Good song 90 db! :)

Also, if anyone thinks getting signed is "making it", well those days are gone. Anymore, we will not get "discovered" all at once.

All we have to do is be truly original and entertaining and put ourselves on youtube.

Then we get a little more "discovered" with every view.

If you have got something you believe in, and it is already on youtube, spend money, time and effort on getting your video featured on various pages across the net.

Here is a big secret: we do not need the labels anymore and they know it.

Thanks man. I dig your stuff as well. What model of Bassman do you play? The old tubey one? My wife has a Bassman 250/210, and it rocks.

You're right about the business as well. Today, success may be smaller, but more intimate, and immediate.

Yea, I have old Fender bassman 250 2-10 in mint shape. I like it.

That is the read I made on the music scene and I believe it is fairly accurate.

Also, this IS speculation, but I believe there will be a huge niche' for youtube videos of groups performing thier material live, in a good sounding room, recorded on a device in the center of the room, that actually captures the sound of the room during the performance along with the true tone of the instuments. That is a really long way of stating: "like being in the room".

I do not have a crystal ball or anything. I say this because I browse youtube for this type of thing and I am totally addicted to this. I cannot get enough of well recorded but unmastered live performances.
AAMOF, I am just crazy for this type of stuff.

The technology in these devices,(like my Zoom q3), is just about there and is only getting better.

For instance, I am now a fan of this Chinese band.....

Hrrrmmphhh. Cover band that's even too cheap to hire a full band. The guitar does sound good, but why don't you go ahead and put it down and call what you do by its real name: KARAOKE.

Please post something you've written so that I can admire it. Since anyone can do it, I figure you can pull something out of your butt and post it for me. Just yank it out and slap it on your page.

I'm waiting.

There are most certainly higher degrees of song writing, I've heard a million decent songs, and a few "great" songs. Having years of experience does not guarantee your any good at what you do, nor does being new at something mean you cannot possibly be great at it immediately, either outlook is narrow minded at best. I do not claim to be on your song writing level, or anyones level, I write songs that sound good, when I hear them in my head,, if I break a music writing rule, or use a cliche line, it makes no difference to me, there are only so many descriptive phrases in the English language, I am not re-inventing the wheel, I'm just a story teller, using the tools available to me. So far our live shows, with the handful of songs we've got ready, have gotten a great response from the fans in attendance, thats my target audience, and they seem to appreciate my effort. I meant no offense to you sir.

Nothing beats a live show.

I like that line about the fans whom are in attendance being the target audience.
I'm not sure that's how you intended that statement to be interpreted Tronix, but it's freaking dead on from my POV.

We got some great feedback at our last show and I'm sure it was the live energy that carried the day. Technically we did not bring our A game.
But we poured everything we had into our presentation.
At first I was not so keen on the idea of playing live having never done music in public before.
But I'm hooked now !!

ROCK N ROOOOLLLLLL !!!

Sans, I am not suprised you did good live, your band is good and the music is good. To be honest, I like to pick on the Jesus rockers and I went to your page to have a laugh, but instead I found some great wholesome rock and roll.

Thanks.

To also be honest that is what we're shooting for.

We're just ordinary guys who like to rock.
I myself have difficulty listening to most contemporary Christian music.
It's just too "good" if you know what I mean.
We want to be different. We want to be loud and proud like a rocker should be, and still carry the positive message in a powerful way.
We've got some head bangers we don't have recorded yet.
Hope you stop by again. 8)

Yes sir, you took it exactly as I meant it, I'm glad I'm not the only one with this train of thought. It took a while for me to get comfortable on stage, but now, I get an adrenaline rush no drug could give me, and I was playing songs, I myself wrote, and there was something extra special about hearing the crowd chant "one more song!" at the end of the set because we only had 6 songs that night, it let me know I didn't need to be an expert song writer, only really passionate about what I was doing.
It's refreshing to hear of a Christian band that doesn't feel the need to make every song dripping with "goodness" to use your term..lol I heard a Christian metal band tonight called "Eternal Decision" honestly, I'd go to one of their shows any day, it's good metal regardless of the religious connotation or not.
