I LOVE the sound of an upright bass, bowed or plucked. Mostly bowed. It's too bad you don't hear that outside of orchestras very often. It's cool you're doing it that way.

Don't leave me hangin', here! What KIND of pick up didja get? I deal woth these bluegrass guys fairly often, & I like some of thier gear, but the pups are nearly always sub-quality. I'd like to know what direction to point them to do better.

LOL

When Dddonnie had his music store, he got an old violin off of someone.

He showed it to me, & I was appalled that he'd blow hard cash on that thing. The wood was separating at the edges of the thing.

As he held it oh so gingerly in his hands, proudly showing it off, I could only just shake my head. Suddenly, I jumped as he smashed it to the floor.

He then told me that it was junk. Nothing better than firewood.

So, of course I had to know why he bought it. Turns out that in many cases, the bow is the thing. It was hard to believe that when he showed it to me, with the hairs all stickin' out & such.

Turns out that some of the bows are worth quite a bit of money, if you know what to look for.

Hope you got a good one.

Thanks for the info.
