I'm going in a different direction with this question:
Looking at great acoustic intros/interludes/preludes to rock songs -
Nancy Wilson/Heart , Alex Lifeson/Rush, and Rik Emmett/Triumph
Remember Them ??

Can't answer the question I youtubed what are to me new names mentioned in this thread and I can't pick anyone over others I like'em all, but if I were to judge song writing I'd pick Michael Hedges Tribal dance and Aerial bounderies.

Nancy Wilson, Chet Atkins, Roy Clark, Eric Johnson, Jimmy Page (Oh shut up already), Shawn Phillips...Duanne Allman and Dickie Betts did a fabulous job on Little Martha, ditto the Doobie Brothers with South City Midnight Lady, Martin Barre and Ian Anderson have both done some excellent acoustic work on various Jethro Tull songs (One Brown Mouse, Jack in the Green, Fat Man, many others) Greg Lake on From the Beginning, everything on Clapton's unplugged is very nice...

Oh yeah, gotta add a shameless plug for...

ME :D

Tell me Silhouette of A Daydream ain't pretty decent...yeah I know I'm a shameless guitar whore...
