After work today, I got a phone call from our Drummer. He talked again with the promoter for the Green Valley Ranch Summer pool gig.

In their conversation, the promoter says, "you guys realize this is the European section of the pool right?" Yea, we've seen the decor, it's a really nice place. "That's not exactly what I'm getting at.. This is the topless section."

Oh what a great Summer it's gonna be..

Do they book Christian bands too ??

We played at a giant bonfire in the middle of nowhere years ago. I thought nobody would show up. Boy was I wrong. There were hundreds and hundreds, maybe thousands of bikers there. And they had a wet T-shirt contest. That was great playing with dozens of wet T shirt contestants dancing around. Hard to pay attention under those circumstances...

You gotta love the nudity!

I've been asked to play at a nudist camp a cpl times, but I haven't gotten around to it...prolly cuz these things are usually full of ppl in thier 50's on up...& they might expect my nudity too...dunno which would ne worser...

@ my first biker rally there were 5000 there. they were burning Jap bikes (totally uncool I know) and my date entered the itty bitty titty contest.

No, totally cool to burn Jap bikes. How many American bikes have the Japanese allowed to be sold in Japan over the years? They have had very low quotas of American bikes and autos allowed to be sold there ever since WWII. Didn't we kick their ass in WWII? I say burn all the friggin Jap bikes and STOP buying Chinese manufactured crap for that matter....I'm glad Toyota is having the trouble with their cars recently...BUY AMERICAN. See we're getting off track from the original post. Totally cool Shred, you're going to have to send us pics from your upcoming poolside gigs...

We just played Green Valley Ranch tonight for another type of gig altogether. It's a place called The District. It's pretty much an outdoor shopping mall, but it's in the middle of the restaurant / bar area. These restaurants are maybe a little on the upscale side.

The stage was at the end of.. I don't know how to describe it other than a spongy type mat-floor that kids play on. Beautiful setting!! The stage is shaded by vines and trees. But half of our crowd was literally toddlers.. It was so damn fun to watch these kids just bounce off each other!! Hahaha. Some were trying to dance.. It was just awesome.

Funny start to the show, we really didn't expect that to be the case. And the first song in our set was a cover tune called "Ganja Farmer". hahaha!! All these (what seemed to be) wealthy couples and their kids, and we're singing a song called Ganja Farmer to START. They just looked dumbfounded! They didn't know what to think. But the kids were just loving it!!

Probably the weirdest vibe to a start of a set we've ever encountered. You could tell Iz was uncomfortable singing it. He even omitted the word Marijuana from the song.

But.. BUT!! Let me just say this.. There will be songs on our album that you might not care for too much. That's understandable. They might seem a little G-Rated for your taste. But maaaaan did they save our asses today. After Ganja Farmer, we all were just like, "dude, we have to switch gears on the fly here. We gotta bust out some kid friendly stuff REAL FAST!" Thank God for Ryan and Iz and their clean songs. And how they know how to work a family environment. After a few of those, we were able to literally play anything without anyone caring.

The crowd was more receptive to the fact that their kids really don't understand the songs, they just like the rhythms. Reggae has the best dance rhythms for kids. We got a TON of compliments after our sets. Their kids loved us, and they were 100% WORE OUT after our show.. What more can you ask for?

So imagine this... We have more of these booked in-between the topless pool shows.

Talk about polar opposite settings. This Summer is gonna be a real trip. As odd as it may sound, I'm not sure which one I will like better. On one hand you have a sense of self gratification (boobs to look at) and the other, you're making kids' faces beam with enjoyment, and they're watching you in total amazement, and it's more about them.

Think about that.

I know the feeling, I played at a local fairgrounds a couple of years ago, the usual rock/country/dance variety band, (and not really that good actually but it was the only game going at the time) but we had fun and my niece got a picture of a little girl about 4 years old just dancing away while we played. She didn't know it, she was watching us, but I caught her eye and pointed, she grabbed the camera...

I've had that happen a few times playing that kind of gigs, it's always great. Any time I get the chance I like to play fairs, things like the Jambalaya Festival (similar to Lei Day but cajun style). It's always fun and you get a totally different audience, every age group instead of just the drinking age folks that hang out in bars.

I hope I get a chance to cruise out there this summer...

I just think little kids are the coolest. They don't think about it and just groove to the music and they are sooooooo adorable doing it!!! Actually anytime anyone, young or old, are totally enjoying the music is great!

I love it when anyone really gets into the groove, no matter thier age. Kids just seem to do it easier than adults.
