I have a modest collection of LP's from back in the day.
They are just collecting dust.
How might one best go about selling such ??

I do! I have a huge collection of vinyl. Do you have a college town nearby? Usually there will be a few used record stores. But if I were you I would buy a good turntable and keep 'em.

LOL

Man I have some that are probably collectables.
Like Lynard Skinnard in flames.

I checked a used shop once. It was like they wanted me to just give them away. "OH nobody uses those anymore they are worthless"
Well I just look stupid, I'm really not.
I asked them "Then why are YOU selling them?"

I have a turntable too, sans stylus.
Hell, presently I don't even have a stereo in my home.

Perhaps your right. I'll just shuffle the boxes around again til I get a round toit.

Good one - I was reading that Jimmy Page had that killed because the record company put on a bunch of fake stuff. Here's a review:

"I was lucky enough to get this from amazon a few years back before Mr.Page ONCE AGAIN killed it with legal injunctions.I see his point. The canned cheering, crappy recording and Keith Relf singing flat for a hour is a bit much. Why the 5 stars then? Jimmy Page sounds great. The Telecaster/Vox combo is stunning and he seldom reached this level of tone again even in Zeppelins best moments.Grab this and enjoy a great guitarist while he was young and fresh."

He certainly peeked with the first 3-4 LZ albums. This record was recorded Live at a bar in New York. Great Live Album. I have the bootleg also.

There is a growing movement to bring them back. I wouldn't be so hasty as to sell them just yet. I much prefer having to clean a record than slip a silly disc in frankly and then there is the artwork factor.

I used to spend hours looking at a cover while a record was on. That part is missing and I'm pretty certain that if records were made available again, which I think will happen even younger folks will like them too. Just think about Justin Beibers face on a 12 inch huh? Girls would go mad.

I think it will happen sometime, so just keep em and enjoy em.
Just my take.

You are right Chip. Part of the fun was the art work and the little extras some would put in their albums. (posters, rollin papers)

They do still make vinyl records. Saw some for sale ..... forget which store it was...target or walmart......something like that. I think they will make a small comeback.

Funny story: Hubby and I had a bet on who did a certain song. The only thing we had the song on was an LP. Grandkids were over at the time and we pulled the record out and put it on the old turntable. Grandson said "I was wondering when you were going to play those giant CD's".

BTW I won the bet :)
