You know I think this a subject that effects all of us whether we like it or not. We all eat and drink and we are consuming these chemicals constantly. I think it's a problem that is serious and it's killing people by poisoning us all very, very slowly. The Government that was originally designed to protect the citizens is whats allowing it to take place. Basicly it is buyer beware and every man for himself. Obviously money rules. Please apply your own logic and common sence and make a decision about what you are allowing to happen to your loved ones by purchasing items that are full of chemicals. Eating more natural food is more work and less convenient sometimes. Eating the other food if that's what you call it, seems a little suicidal.

Being a long time Gung Fu practitioner teacher and student I have studied and tried many diets.
Most people don't know or can even grasp the concept that true Gung Fu has it's origins in TCM (traditional Chinese medicine). In ancient China the Gung Fu master was the doctor for the whole village.

So health, diet herbal medical knowledge, chi flow meridians, acupressure, medicinal massage, and Chi Gung (energetic exercise) have been a study and interest of mine long before becoming involved in western medicine.

You know I was just reading the label on the pint of milk I was drinking with my lunch.It says, FDA States: No Significant difference in milk from cows treated with artificial growth hormone. What do they consider significant? How much do I have to drink before it does become significant. Is the word significant the difference between sick and not sick. I think I deserve to know if I'm paying to drink this. I guess we are programed to trust the FDA is looking out for our best interest because it is a government agency. Go figure.

I'm all about organic alternatives. I'd love to see choices, and even long-term statistical studies (using some form of scientific methodology as it's base).

One of the big issues I hear is that chemical treated crops generate much larger harvests, and that the population of the world couldn't be supported wholly by organic methods- there's not enough farms or open space to grow what we would need (?)

interesting how we are ultimately going to cause our own demise.

I've read that changing the plant that way in some plants creates other chemicals inside them and irradiating them in some plants actualy makes Benzene. Its all about controlling the seeds. They have created suicide seeds that mean you can only get them from the original source. I believe Monsanto is cornering the seed market. Think what that means in the far future. Study says fat people die early. Study says older fat people live longer. Study says you have to eat like a rabbit to get your daily amount of fiber. Study says fiber levels are non essential.

And so it goes. The news media broadcasts the "scare of the day" to keep you watching. Ohhhhhhhhhh I'm so scared!!!

Adding to the title of this thread. Yes there most definitely is something Evil Lurking. However of late I feel its far closer to home than some might think!

As far as I'm concerned, this news, combined with the promise from the WHite House that our foods will have less sodium & sugar in the future, only proves, once again, that our gov't is pro-biz at the cost of its population's health & well-being. I find it not at all surprizing that Kraft & other co's can get away with withholding information about what foods contain. Hell, our gov't will be buying & passing out these very foods through the WIC program in the future, mark my words.

Nutritional value? Long-term effects? Let the profits be your guide! I'm getting me some rabbits & raising my own damned meat! Screw the system! Between the venison, rabbits, & fish that I get from clean ponds, & the pork I get from Mennonites, I may be able to completely bypass this sh*t in a few months!

Monsanto is pure evil! That biz is working to become our SOLE source for food seeds, through hybridization & intermingling of species, while they use thier rather significant power to corner the marketplace. Remember the genetically enhanced potatoes that McDonalds was using for awhile? Monsantos-produced crap. They're mixing plant & animal DNA to rceate new strains of food. They mixed firefly DNA with a tobacco to produce a luminous plant. They're a very progressive co with no stop-gap measures to prevent some of thier odd new plants from escaping, too. Co's like this put everyone & everything at risk. This co should be exterminated, imho.

Slack, I want as many good days as I can get. I figure not safeguarding my own health would be a self inflicted crime. I think I will reap the rewards at the other end of my life. Maybe I will avoid the old folks home or oldtimers or diabetes or some problem that may come from not avoiding the chemicals. Good luck to you though.
