Nowhere did I say he was irrelevant. I said he is nothing like his father. This is the problem with people who have a God complex and psycho babble. They manipulate your words to make themselves look above it all and all knowing. Everything I said was true. He isn't anything like his father, he doesn't get the TV exposure his dad did, I don't know of any top 10 hit he has had and people basically go to see him to hear his fathers music. You said yourself JD that he plays his fathers music note for note. How does that separate you from the crowd of other touring guitar players. I said he was a good guitar player and he is. He is irrelevant in the big picture, there I said it. The problem with you two is you can't handle someone that has an opposite opinion of yours. You are incapable of agreeing to disagree. JD must get nasty in his defence with name calling and Craig gets all seeing and knowing with his blanket of philosophy. I take you as you are, why can't you return the favor and just have a discussion. You feel you must put the other end of the discussion down to strengthen your point. (ignorant, polar side, unwittingly, posturing, dishonest, liar)

Klugmo,
I meant no harm. And I don't have a God complex, or believe I am all knowing or all seeing. I am pretty insightful most of the time, but I get it wrong sometimes, just like any fallible human being. And I am certainly not putting you down... on the contrary, I believe your heart to be pretty good, and find you to be a pretty decent person. I have defended you several times, when I felt you were being unfairly judged or ganged up on, as I do for anyone here, when I feel they are in the right.
But I believe what I said about posturing. And it was a reference to MOST PEOPLE and not just you. We all are prone to posturing at different times, no matter who we are. People slip into "roles" too easily. I watch entire lives, lived out, as if they they are onstage, giving a performane, playing a role... and sometimes entire families do this... everyone functioning as if they are reading off scripts, to the point that you can virtually predict the entire conversation, and yet NOTHING REAL is going on there. It is more like AUTOMATED COMMENTS and AUTOMATED RESPONSES. One person says a cerain thing, and the response will be so predictable, it seems "canned". And yet these people are speaking "lines" and not saying ANYTHING important or significant, or even TRUE for that matter. Nothing deep is going on. Nothing honest is occuring. Nothing is being RESOLVED or HEALED or IMPROVED.
I find this to be TREMENDOUSLY sad, and far too COMMON, in the world.
It's as if we are trained over many millenia to respond in a pre-programmed way, and then the other party responds in a similarly pre-programmed way too.
But there is no real MEETING OF THE HEARTS, and so history just ends up repeating itself... where life just runs on a "loop", on constant "replay". I upset people sometimes, because I am always trying to BREAK THROUGH that loop, to get passed the faux-civility people put on, where they can be DISHONEST, and get away with it... where they can MAINTAIN THEIR ACT, their ROLE, their POSTURING, and delude themselves that something REAL is going on, like growth, as opposed to the all-too-often CANNED RESPONSES and MEANINGLESS RHETORIC that most people engage in. Which they substitute as a replacement for a MEANINGFUL EXCHANGE, a HEART TO HEART experience where lives can be changed, and then grow, and develop to a higher level.
In any event... We have one chance at life.
We have a set time frame to accomplish whatever it is we are meant to accomplish, or to find whatever it is we are looking for in life. It is far too precious, and far too fleeting, to waste it all, or not make the best use of it.
We have a very brief time, to make our mark. And we all make a mark, one way or another, whether adding chaos to the world, or understanding. If we learn to grow, and take advantage of the opportunities for healing or understanding presented us every day, then, as we grow and learn, maybe we can teach others around us, to learn also. Teach others to be REAL. To stop walking around, OBLIVIOUS to the needs and values of the lives surrounding us everyday.
All people living on this planet, are not just God's children, but every living human being is also PHYSICALLY related as well. We all share a common lineage, with anthropologists having found DNA in an a distant ancestor which is related to ALL LIVING HUMANS on the planet. It is THIS WOMAN'S descendats, or family line, that survived, while any others, long ago dies out.
All humans belong to the same FAMILY.
Not just FIGURATIVELY, but also LITERALLY!!!
Maybe we could LEARN to relate to all others, as FAMILY, and not just as civil strangers, or worse... personal enemies.

Ignorant is not the put down you perceive it to be Klug. It just means you don't have all the facts. I defy you to find posts where I have called you names. I don't do that because it's not necessary; my ability to concisely communicate does all the heavy lifting
Excellent diatribe on posturing Craig, you were right on. I will admit when I'm wrong, there's no reason not to.

It's like a disease.
And it just wastes and rots our lives.
Progress is so difficult to achieve like that, whether on the individual level, or whether it is between nations.

I know you do!
I've seen you do it. And I respect that very much. Humility was the beginning point for my own path to a better heart, and maturity.
So much better, and less work, and FAR LESS PAINFUL, to just admit the error, embrace the new truth you found, and MOVE ON to the next thing!

I do know where you're coming from Klug and of course I agree that Frank was a genius, but he was another one of those love 'em or hate 'em guys. I've especially heard a lot of women who don't like him.
But Dweezil has made it his life work to keep the music of his father alive, and I do give him great respect for that.
The DVD is amazing, especially when Steve Vai and Terry Bozzio come on. Amazing!

Hate to interupt you two but JD look a couple pages back on the New Chemikill Tunes post on the 2nd page halfway down. This is where you called me a grunt. Insinuateing that I do the heavy lifting because I am blue collar. Consider yourself defied. Now admit you were wrong or was that a lie.

Well I suppose if you take exception to it then I'm sorry. But I was a grunt for 10 years before I decided to get an education and a good job. I might be a little proud of that.
Again you insinuate that I don't have a good job and that I am uneducated by pointing those problems out with your past and refering to yourself as a grunt. This is a US and Them mentality. It only leads to future trouble with people in general. I admire your apology but was never really offended. I must admit that sometimes I enjoy bickering with people and I do tend to have an opposite opinion sometimes. I am here to enjoy all you musicians and learn a few things. No malice intended.

Zappa was on TV before many of you were born...

Strangely, I don't think I saw that episode, even though I tried to always watch the show. Stupid yes, but always a good song or three...same as Hee Haw, I pretty much ignored most of the stupid show and waited for the songs to play...but with Hee Haw I was just waiting for Roy Clark..

Notice I didn't say ALL of you...I said many of you...
Anyway, also found some even earlier stuff, on the Steve Allen show in black and white. Apparently several clips, this one should have links to the others...
