Folks, the open mic last nitgh was invaded by old, & I DO mean OLD country styles & folks!
There's something about the slow stuff combined with the pedal steel that can put me out super quick! It's like the pedal steel hits ya like slipping into a really comfy hammock, after awhile.
The night started off with the solo mandolin player that really sucks, frankly, but we try to encourage him.
Then the guy who does all pretty stuff. Pedal steel sat in at the end.
An old cpl in thier 70's followed, doing folky-country stuff from the '40's with those real nasally voices.
Then an entire band, playing Patsy Cline & other old stuff - all slow, with the pedal steel.
Next, a trio concentrating on George Jones, & by then I was nodding on the bar. One of the guitars was playe like a dobro, with the vol pedal, so it hit ya like a pedal steel...yawn...
A friend of mine got up last, but I was so sleepy I left. Hope it didn't piss him off.
I never even got to play. *sniff*

SMILE - it's the safest way to spread your cheeks!
