I dearly love living here. It's really beautiful!

Thought I'd share some views with you...

This is what I saw on the 14th of April, as I pulled out of my driveway:

Image

This is a house that I did a LOT of work on. It used to have teensy lil wondows, yellow vinyl siding, & a rotting shingle roof before I tackled it. I think it turned out pretty nice.

This is a favorite canoing & fishing spot.

Simply gorgeous Phil.
Looks so much like my area with the exception of the stream / river.
Our rivers and creeks are muddy water.
From the looks of the trees and stuff. You'd feel right at home on my porch. I even have an extra dog for you to prop your feet on.

Yep. I flooked up. I'll admit it. All in all, though, not bad for my very 1st attempt at using all this new (to me) stuff, imho.

It hasn't happened again, so I think I might have learned something, but I can't for the life of me know WHAT I've learned, cuz I dunno how I got that up there in the 1st place!

Nice Phil! Looks a lot like my place. I'll get some pics today and put them up. The back part of my property is Elk Creek which is the #1 Steelhead fishing creek in the US. It's a zoo down there now because the first day of trout started yesterday...

I can imagine, dEcho! Ppl line up at the creeks when they release the fish in our streams. I drive by laughing at these folk who consider themselves "sportsmen!" Why don't they just put 'em in a barrel & shoot at the fish?

There was one official DNR lady who would shake the crap outta the barrels before she would release them into the creek. They'd get so spooked that they wouldn't feed for hours! THAT really PO'd a lot of these guys!

I don't fish for trout, but I buy my stamp, cuz if I happen across one, I won't pass up the op to eat it.

I'm getting pickier about where I fish, though. Lately i'm preferring to fish in ponds & lakes, cuzza the pollution & overfishing factors. Ain't nothing I'd eat out of the Potomac!

Looks great Phil, sure wish I had been able to make it over there last winter, I would have loved that place. I guess it just wasn't meant to be. My sister and mother live out in the sticks in Texas, I always like going out there to visit, except that I always end up working my butt off all weekend. But it's great, right next to Sam Rayburn (100 yards or so) which is the best bass lake in Texas, and quite a bit of nice shoreline for a long walk. Gotta watch out for the gators though...but I used to see a red fox cross the road 2 or 3 days a week leaving for work, squirrels all over the place and even a deer now and then close by. Hawks are pretty common and an eagle is spotted now and then too. My mother also has bird feeders up, you name it, we see it...bluebirds, warblers, jays, cardinals, titmice, wrens, doves, sparrows and of course hummingbirds forever...

But it doesn't look as nice as these pictures...

Oh, almost forgot, I've been a photographer for many years, if you'd like I can give you some good pointers on taking nice pics when you get into people and animals as subjects.

A lot of my better shots are here

http://www.flickr.com/photos/paleopete

But keep in mind I took hundreds of shots to get these few...In general I take at least 30 for every good one worth keeping.

I hear ya! When the Steelhead first ran this year, my buddy and I sat up on the cliff with some beers LOLing at the guys down there. They'd stand shoulder to shoulder so once one guy would hook one, all their lines would get crossed, they'd run all over the creek together looking like idiots, and would eventually break their lines. Then they'd do it again! Hahahahahahahaha! Those are the out-of-towners that always show up here on the weekends. You never see local dudes being so foolish.

As far as bad areas to fish around here, it would be the bay of Lake Erie. It's so polluted from all of the old industry that I'd never eat anything caught out of there, but people do it all the time. Ewwwwwwwwwwwww!!!

Phil,

That looks like a wonderful place. I would personally really love the creek.

When my ex and I were still married, we lived in the country like that and had a creek that ran down the edge or our pasture. When the rains got real heavy this winter, it sounded like a river. I remember going outside one night just to listen to it in the dark...

Simple moments like that are so wonderful. I miss that creek a bit, but am so much happier now, lol.

I'll have to find some pics of that land and post. You'd appreciate it, I'm sure.
