Chippy, thanx for all your love, now leave the back door open , and a big bowl of your best schrooooms.
Please just don't get involved or angry because some of us want to talk this stuff.
Some of the "pure music stuff gets boring"
By the way ,I have to agree , IBANEZ, makes a really good , playable ,fretboard. For the money ,I think they are great!!!
That one was for you Chippy. Keep :) and maybe we'll get together soon.
Govt and taxes putting me out of biz so I may have much free time on my hands, while I figure out what to do next.
Maybe I'll put together a rock band and get filthy rich.

ok I didn't read the article, or beyond the 5th response... but I do know this; in 1990 the 5000 richest people in this country (yes all of em are corporate owners) paid a total amount of ZERO dollars in taxes. On the other hand, the 50,000000 poorest citizens were billed 100% of their taxes!

Yeah Hayden, Because they probably did NOT take any profits, for whatever reason.
But I know the cash they are living off was taxed at some point in time.
Rich people are not stupid. The only way to take it away from them is a declaration of theft.
We really dont want that because it would open all sorts of ugly doors.

Sorry folks/Glen. Glen You're right. Don't get involved. It's just if you knew how frustrating it is to be shoved into some dumb sales job just because of your voice and let everything you can do go to waste?

Back door is never open, squirrels guard it at present, but I'm in regular talks with Skunk and Groundhog. Woody said he might be able to help but Owl face seems a dead cert, The Buzzards on next doors roof have a say too. It's a pretty difficult situation here. No Glen I'm leaving and its not because I don't like people here its because some people just don't know how lucky they really are sometimes?

Thanks Glen.
This ship is bloody quick however! :D

Here are figures from the IRS from 2000:

• The bottom 50 percent of income earners pay approximately 4 percent of income taxes.
• The top 25 percent of income earners pay nearly 83 percent of the income tax burden, and the top 10 percent pay 65 percent.
• The top 1 percent of income earners pay almost 35 percent of all income taxes.
• The top 400 richest Americans paid 1.58 percent of total income taxes in 2000.

Now, tell me again, how the rich are undertaxed?

This class warfare bullsh*t is JUVENILE and SIMPLY WRONG!

There are people who WHINE about other's successes, and there are people who spend their time instead, CREATING their own successes!

No offense to anyone (myself included) but if you are busy buying dope, 6 packs of beer and new video games, etc... with your hard earned cash, you DESERVE the life you are creating for yourself. (So do I)

There is no one to blame but... YOU! (and me)

If financial success is TRULY your goal, then start working harder and sacrificing and practicing SELF-DISCIPLINE to get it! It's not rocket science. It's just good work ethic, sacrifice for a number of years, SAVING MONEY, and then INVESTING THAT MONEY WISELY!

And if financial success is NOT truly your goal (based on how you are really living your lives and spending your money) then, please...

STOP BITCHING about those who actually DO the right things, and then succeed as a result! And btw... there is nothing wrong inherently with being a poor struggling musician, or not trying to live your life around MONEY being your primary pursuit... but for Pete's sake... JUST BE HONEST ABOUT IT! We all made our choices.. let's not begrudge others for choosing differently, and then succeeding in their own paths.

Dammit, Craig! You jump from topic to topic & make those damned offensive analogies & sometimes you step over the line & just piss me off in your zeal to make your point.

No, I am not a thief. My views on taxes are rather mainstream, in many circles, so don't gimme that sh*t about how f*cking holy you are & how dishonest I am cuz I think something other than you. How you go from one to the other is a mystery to me.

Are you insane?

Do you beat your kids with that bible?

Do you accost ppl in the street & scream in thier ears that the end is near?

Are you this offensive in person?

Do your strict ideals color everything you say & do to the point that you're this borish all the time in every area of your life?

So you wear those blinders all the time, or just when you come in here?

Do you suffer from tunnel vision?

See...we could go on like this for days, & nothing will ever be achieved other than hurt feelers. DO try to make a point without insulting me sometime, & DO accept when you cannot change me, cuz I'm no Craiggy-clone.

Now, back to your point - yes, the idea of taxes is to finance the gov't. Those who succeed under the rules of law (yeah, right!) could only have done so due to the supposedly free & open marketplace we all share, with the safety assured by our gov't. No one makes it totally alone. It cannot be done without using the work of all those others they exploit, to some degree. Since the gov't makes the rules that assure your safety, your ability to advertise, manufacture, & distribute your product or service, it's only natural to expect your support. The more you succeed under the system, the more you should support the system, to some degree, cuz in many other cases, the system works against you.

I can hear you & Glen howl at those "unfair ideas," but that's exactly how things work in this society, & those are the things that actually happen, so I cannot be alone in that way of thinking, whether you agree or no, so don't even try to turn this into another personal attack on me or my character. It's simply another point of view, one that happens to be more popular than your own in our gov't, btw, from the way things actually work.

Phil , your skin is obviously not that THICK.
This has nothing to do with music and playing, because you are an incredible musician. NONE of this is a personal attack on on you,,, I think you are GREAT.
I would love to sit down and split a 6 pack with you.
But ,please ,,, none of this is personal. I have tremendous respect for you. I just don't like what I see in a more philosophical way looking at things.
God, more than anything I want to see you get ahead, just like all the other great musicians here.
You posted this, and I am just responding. Funny how much you and I don't agree , but Funny how much I have to say thanx because you are a great guy teaching me all the other points of view.

Wanna trade? I don't think you could? Man if I had just one other dollar to hear someone complain when they HAVE work and about the SYSTEM I'll blow a circuit.
I'm not telling anyone what I earned last year because its an insult to humanity in America! Yes I have an Internet connection which allows me to be here, of course.

I use every means to get my stuff out and that means walking through Linux day by day but please sing another song. I'm very fortunate yet even now. When things really get tough don't come banging at my door. The drop for you is a long one compared to my compassionate existence.

Twice I've seen red today.

Damn Chippy! Calm down dude! I'm a steel worker that does dangerous work everyday that most people couldn't even stomach. When we're working (been slow for months now) it's over 50 hours a week. Can you hang 80 to 100 feet in the air and weld connections? Probably not, but I do. And yeah, because of the economy, my earnings will be about half of my best year, but I still get by, pay the bills and the mortage, ect.

Your barking up the wrong tree here man. It's not my fault that you're in the position that you're in, and it's not my fault that you just have to lash out at someone that you don't even know because you're having problems with things. You should have done some research before you approached, or barked at me like that. I see how you are now...

Like I said. I apologize. If that isn't enough or you need something material like my blood?
I'm sorry you feel targeted, that was wrong of me but should you decide that I am holy other for stating what I thought I cannot change that or what I said either.

I met with this before some years ago when I was much more fortunate than now. Constant bitching about money while the UK had what we are having here right now. Those who are in work are lucky, call it clever, big brains, well situated whatever that may be for those concerned. There are always people on the other side of the fence who will see such complaining as folly.

Sorry I upset you, I will not again.
Have a great day.

It's cool man, but I didn't complain about anything. I simply showed an example of how the tax percentages work. I did make a statement about Obama, but it still wasn't complaining. I don't complain, I take action and do the best that I can for my family... :D
