No doubt the best known symphony, however quite a bit more than a song since symphonies have four movements, each comprised of many parts that could be called songs. There are so many classical pieces that are excellent that perhaps we should have excluded the genre. In that spirit, the thread is reopened with the question: what is the best pop or rock song of all time? Discuss.

I'd say either "Hey Jude" or "Come on Eileen"

When a back woods Russian folk band covers any pop song, it's GOTTA be pretty good

"Like A Rolling Stone" or "All Along The Watchtower", because Jimi took great songs and made them timeless.

Yeah, true... technically speaking, a "SONG" requires both Melody -AND- Lyrics. Otherwise it is an "INSTRUMENTAL" or something else.

I dunno. For some reason there's that song that leeps popping into my head every tiome this question is asked - you know, the one with the rappish lyric what starts out something like this;

"I like big butts & I am not lyin'..."
