After reading through several...and I mean SEVERAL of the posts on these forums, I just thought that I'd offer any of my assistance necessary to join you in your never-ending battle to save the proper use of grammar in the English language.

It's now on the table brother. Hahahahahahahahahaha!!!

Well that's very generous of you, although I've come to the conclusion it may be a waste of time. There are some who think that spelling/grammar are not relevant issues for modern communication, especially on the web. I think the younger generation's penchant for short-hand in text messaging is lowering everyone's expectations. But we will fight the good fight!

Well, there is some truth to that, but it is also true that language is fluid and evolves, with some words and phrases falling out of favor and being replaced by others, or sometimes words get changed in meaning by common useage, and people follow suit.

For example...

Few today would say they are feeling "gay" to express happiness. The word was hijacked and now is understood to be something else.

So... balance.

Keep the good, and evolve with what evolves, or alter what makes no sense any longer, like "a lot" which should be changed to "alot"!

;-)

I know!

These kids kill me today! It would be more funny, if it weren't so sad and scary! I can't even tell a young waiter to take 20% for a tip, and bring me the change! I see them actually asking their managers what to do! And 2 or 3 out of 10 times, they bring back the wrong amount!

This country is in TROUBLE!!!

I've not seen a waiter or waitress worth %20 in a long time.
That being said. I'm the guy that tips a dollar at the Sonic for a burger and a Coke.

It is interesting to me this modern phenomena of being so "correct" with spelling and or grammar.
Read your history. Even official documents from the late 1800 to mid 1900s. Most spelling was done phonetically. And the letters to home from solders from the Civil War through WW I. Many, poetic things of beauty and terribly misspelled.
Of late our language had become so sterile that it has lost all it's beauty and flavore.

Any job worth doing is worth doing right.

And that includes spelling...
