Sorry it gets old hearing about Tiger Woods and bull about crap we can't even control.

Healthcare, underwear, titan-tron, gonna make me a homemade bong!

Hell, I'd rather hear about what Hayden found out about the top secret weather machine.

And if you think that's bull, you'd freak if you knew all there is to know.

I guess if I put on some Chuckies and a Bruce Lee T, I could kick my own ass at the coliseum in Rome.

I'm a rocker through and through... but I grew up around the outlaw counrty scene and southern rock. That being said I've only heard one of today's country artists that really capture what I feel to be true blue country music. I'll go on record here as saying I dig the HELL out of Jamie Johnson.

Listen to the song High Cost of Living. Sounds like classic honest to goondess country music.

Thanks, I'll def check him out and that tune.

That's the kind of tips I really dig, because I don't have to search for it then.

Quick listen and either it's all good or it's not.

Thanks again.

Groove-in wrote:I must admit, I like a Traditional Country(older country) song that is played and sung, by a "talented" Band.
Recently I have have a few inquiries from Bands that are playing "the NEW Country music" as to whether or not, I would play keyboards for them. I would like to go on record as stating, NOT NO, But, HELL NO !!
The other day while motoring along in my car, I decided to give the "NEW Country" music a listen. I was curious, perhaps I am just Bias ?, not being fair ? Perhaps, the music has gotten better ??? Well, I forced myself to endure thirty minutes of listening to one of the bigger country music stations in my area. Yep, just as I thought. VERY poorly written songs, about, Momma, Daddy, Pick-up Trucks, and Tractors. These songs were being sung mostly through their nose. You could sew these guy's mouths shut, and they can still record a complete album. Oh yeah, and the overemphasized country slang. Hell, I live in Kentucky, and I don't know anyone nowadays that talks with that much country drawl.
After that experience, I realized how GOOD a smooth talented "Traditional Country" (or) "Classic Rock" Band sounds.

I went to high school about twenty minutes from a town where pretty much everyone had that twang. The didn't say "corn", the said "karn". They didn't say "cow", they said "kaoow". It was a little surreal, even then, because there were other farming towns all around it and only this only little place was like that.

And just to reinforce the stereotype a bit...

...education levels, standard of living and unemployment levels were always noticeably worse there than any of the nearby towns. Major entertainment in the town was "recreational fighting". It wasn't about winning or losing. There was no real conflict at all. It was just about beating the tar out of each other for fun.

I can't decide whether that's funny or tragic.

I sure never understood it.

I completely agree... People like randy travis were the good country musicians. Nowadays its all " Im a country boy yaddyadayada". Back in the day they sang about problems, real life problems, not just random crap about how there SO COUNTRY! I dont know...

If you are to twang, you best not be faking it.

I think if you open the dictionary to POSEUR, it says "twang when they really speak accent-less English".
