I took in a concert at Orchestra Hall yesterday afternoon, Beethoven's Piano Concerto No.4 and Vaughn William's Symphony No.4. The Beethoven was pedestrian but the Vaughn Williams blew me (and everyone else) away. He was a medic in WWI and his job was to collect the dead and dying after the battle. This experience must have been very profound, because the symphony sounded like a war. One of the most exhilarating classical concerts I've seen, and I've seen a ton.

Yeah, yeah, same guy Ralph Vaughn Williams.
Different piece.
Cool, I'll have to ask George if he's heard of him.
