Well, when I found an online backing track someone did of Stairway To Heaven with no guitars on in I couldn't resist taking a run at the solo section, so I added the 12 string rhythm, main solo, and the slide part near the end of the solo. I want to redo it later, when I have some more time to work on the sounds

Didn't you see the sign? "No Playing Stairway to Heaven". Was that in Wayne's World 1 or 2?

Hey man, I spared you the whole song!
I can give you a little background info on that Wayne's World thing. Being from Toronto like Mike Myers I know that that stairway ban was from Steve's Music where my best friend was the manager in the 80s, and what would happen if some kid plugged into an amp, and played the intro to either "Stairway To Heaven", or "Smoke On The Water" is that an employee would take a pair of side cutters they kept behind the counter and go over and cut the guitar cable on the kid mid intro!!!

You must be a student of tones, noticed that your covers are accurately reproduced with great care for the original guitar tones and doing a good job of it.

It was fun to listen.

Where did you get the backing track from?
Me thinks I'd like to try it.

Thanks Nav. I do work at the sound for a few minutes to try and get it right. Actually on this one I like the 12 string, and the slide but want to redo the main lead'...it's a little too raunchy, and the guitar is actually tuned a bit flat to the rest of the track.

You have to download it to get audio quality, the online player is pretty lo-fi as you'll hear.

I don't think you were tuned flat.. the track was a little bit accelerated, which drives its pitch up a notch. You might roll off the Reverb a bit when you roll off the gain.

Finger work was fantastic... you sounded great even with the gain a little hot. I prefer it a tad hotter than Jimmy ran his anyway.

Shame your in Can-A-da... not bama.

Dajax, nice work, man. You nailed a great tone for it, too.

Dajax Im assuming you used the Supro for those tracks, seems like i read somehwere that Page used a Supro and a Telecaster for the Stairway solo.

Like Ive said you have great tone, always seems to nail the essence of the songs you are doing.

We started playing Watchtower again so thanks for the lesson on your player. Live I would use a mic stand or a beer bottle for the slide part, Ive got to brush up on that in the next day or so!

Actually jw, everything is running direct on this one The solo is a Fender Esquire going thru a Tech 21 Sansamp, and the 12 string thru a Boss CS-3 and a Sansamp acoustic DI. The slide part is going thru a crybaby wah with the pedal in the mid position. The only thing on my player going thru the Supro is the slide on all along the watchtower. I never use a slide on that part live because of the different tuning needed to get the octave note
