haha. reminds of the other night I was driving home from work listening to John Batchelor (Independant I think? maybe republican). In any case, his opening segment was on all the violence after the vote. He was talking to someone who was at DC investigating all the violence, and I was thinking to myself - oh man, the world is turning upside down.

So there was a possible spitting, an evelope with white powder in it, a beating, a shooting and reports of death threats.

I was waiting on pins and needles, when is he going to get to the mob riots, people being dragged out of their semis and clobbered with a brick, store windows broken and pillaging, raping, etc.... basically, it turns out DC was getting a taste of every day life in East Oakland. I bet the recipient of that envelope snorted that white stuff too :)

These guys are in public office. They must get death threats every day of every year. Now all of a sudden they're crying about it? Even Bush having all the sitters out front of his ranch didn't cry about it. It's part of being in the public eye - even the Pope has to roll around the city in a bullet proof glass box...

She has publcly denounced violence in politics MANY TIMES. I have heard her do it, two or three times myself. There is no way any of her supporters could be confused over where she stands.
Sure, I've also heard her call Obama a Terrorist... and we have a whole war against terrorism. Lets face it, the lady is appealing to base instincts and I'm not talking about the good ones.

This country was UNITED as never before during 9/11.

And whom would you give the blame? Would it be our Great Uniter G.W.B? The one who said you're either with us, or against us?

Or are you implying its the guy who just spent a year reaching out to the Repubs trying to get them to participate in Health care reform? Surely you are not trying to say its Obama who has spoken to more opposition members in his first year than Bush did in 8.

No, our nation is divided because Repubs don't have any ethics on the topic of getting elected or turning the public against legislation that does not benefit repubs.

Here is a Death Panel for ya.

I have talked to a lot of folks about the healthcare system that has been rammed down our throats.
Not one person I've talked to - not even one - has said they want it or like it.
Yeah, I've talked to a lot of idiots too. I've also talked with a lot of people who don't understand... isn't this basically the plan introduced by the Repubs in response to "HillaryCare"? Yes... it is.

"So why are they fighting it... why didn't they do this while Bush was in office?" Good question... no one knows the answer.

As for the "Their RAMMING IT DOWN OUR THROATS" statement... how do you think Bush's tax cuts were passed? Were you even paying attention then? How do you think the "Repub" 1997 Balanced Budget act was passed? Same way, back room deals and barely getting thru both houses.

So for you folks who just started paying attention to politics when a BLACK MAN took the presidency... this is pretty normal. Its the way things get done when people disagree about how to move forward.

Instead of allowing the politicians to just vote on it, Obama strong armned members of his party to pass his bill.
A gvt of threats and bribes - that just doesn't sit well with me.
. . . Or anyone I've talked with . . . this is not just my opinion.

Hmm, but it did get voted on, and it passed with no Repub support. Hell, its been voted on 3 times in fact. So I'm not understanding your argument. I get the feeling your not really paying attention, just getting mad. Go for it... get bent despite the facts.

I don't know about your area of the country, but people here hate him and all the back room deals and all.
People are very angry; watching our country and out constitution disolve before our very eyes . . .
That sounds about like Alabama... I held out hope that it was just our backwards ass part of the nation... but no, it seems we're generally ignorant all over America. No Constitution dissolving... but lots of Angry people who have a clue and a handgun. No where near solving the mystery with their clue... but they have a gun.

This country is not a Monarchy, nor a socialist country.
no, it isn't... Obama was VOTED into office. Please try and notice that you will have an equal chance to vote him OUT of office... thus proving AGAIN its a representative democracy. I suppose since YOU didn't vote for him, you want to compare him to a dictator. Tough... America voted for him, and if they vote for him again against your wishes, get over it. I didn't vote for Bush Jr either time and I had to tolerate his ignorant administration for 8 years.

We did NOT ask for this bill.
Obama asked for this bill.

I'm sorry, were you speaking for me? Because I DID ask for Heath Care reform... as did the MAJORITY of Americans. Maybe you don't see the big picture of the expanding health care industry burdening our nation with unnecessary costs. Maybe you don't have the wisdom to see the forest amidst the trees. But the American who voted FOR OBAMA took care of you there... we voted in the folks to do it, its done... now you have a choice.

Revolt, which I suppose is an option. Or Vote... which is the American traditional way of disagreeing with the system.

You better get healthcare coverage, or you're breaking the law, and he can fine you, and take your money for a new museum in his name or something.
I didn't give him that right, did you?

Did you read the bill, or any one of the hundreds of articles about the mandate before you posted that idiocy? Money for presidential museums have to be private donations... so with that out of the way, lets address your other "concerns".

"His Right" to do that was the same right FDR had to mandate you pay FICA, which is SS and unemployment. He's the leader of the Federal Government which give him/ them the right to make sure you are not cheated by companies operating out side your state's ability to regulate. Seeing as how Health Insurance is now GLOBAL... its a simple thing to understand its a FEDERAL issue.

The mandate to buy insurance will kick in by 2014, and at that point if you do not have coverage, and do not qualify for one of the subsidies or exemptions, then yes... you will be fined $95. But this is not about fining you... its about getting you to participate in improving our overall national health, and the system that cares for it.

I can't afford it.
Who can? That's the whole point of this... Insurance has become a privilege of the wealthy, to use as a tool to keep people in jobs they do not like. We pay as a nation enough cash to insure 2 populations our size, and still do not cover our population. That cash is being spent to insurance companies that currently use 30% of the cash paid in for administration to DENY coverage that would cost them profits.
So now that 30% will go towards making sure folks get covered... inculding you and me who cannot afford their outrageous prices.

So to recap... as long as you are willing to look into options, you will not be fined. there will be more options than ever before to cover yourself by 2014. It's actually quite wonderful. You and me... two of the 35 million Americans denied coverage previously... now we will have health insurance.

Get informed... don't revel in ignorance of the facts people. It doesn't look good on you.

Capt, we should just put a gun in your hand and say it is ok TO STEAL!
You are saying IT IS OK TO STEAL.
IT IS NOT OK TO STEAL,PERIOD,END,OF DISCUSSION.

You sound just like obama....... let's turn this country UP SIDE DOWN.

I am just amazed at how the people like you suddenly confuse the power to TAX with the power to steal.

The lower middle class and the poor are the ones that keep paying because the wealthy are forced to just PASS IT ON DOWN THE LINE.

Your thinking is typical ,and I am sorry If it seems I am picking on you.

Dewy, you sound very angry.
I am too.
This is America.
I do NOT like being told by anyone what is right or wrong.
I do not like higher cig taxes because it will harm society
I do not like having pot being illegal because it is a gateway drug,[I don't smoke any]
I do not like people stealing from me, Govt or any one else.
I AM tired of having people like you telling me what I should do.

There will be no violence,,,, but the elections this fall will bring back the sense of HOPE , and CHARITY, that helped to make OUR country GREAT.

I am sorry if you are having such a tough time right now, this will change ,as long as you have some positive thoughts, and faith.

Lets get back to making music.

I know at least part of the answer, Dewy.

#1 - This time the Reps aren't getting credit for the bill, so they will oppose it in the name of "conservatism," & let things get worse until they can come in & save everyone at the 11th hour. (What they don't realize or care, is that the 11th hour has come & gone for far too many Americans while they've been playing thier little one-upmanship games in the media, in Congress & the House.)

#2 - There isn't enough profit in national health care, & the Reps are ALL about profit, aren't they? Profit is what America is ALL about to them. Taking the profit out of anything goes against thier religion, which really needs a strong power like a rich Rep raking in the dough in the market to survive, evidently, cuz anything else suggested is sick socialism & anti-god, & anyone who'd even suggest an alternative would kill your mother & eat your apple pie, too, right after they confiscate your Chevrolet in the name of satan...er..."the environment."

At least, that's the message as I've understood it from the Rep's themselves...

Glen

I understand your angst, I surely do.
Yet we must support one another.
This is what societies do.
When I got laid off from Mobil Oil and had to go to nursing school you supported me.
Yes I let my trunk go back to the financier, and rode a bike to school.
Yes my wife went to work in the public after being a stay home mom.
Yes I worked part time as often as I could.
Yes my friends and family helped support me.
Yes I paid in a thousand times what the government ( that was you ) paid to reeducate me before I was laid off.
Yes I've paid it back a thousand time in the last 16 years of nursing.
Those whom seek to subjugate wish us to divide and fight amongst ourselves.
This is how THEY WIN.
We, despite our differences, must seek a common ground in constitutionality.
That is the the only way any semblance of liberty and justice can survive the onslaught of global socialist domination (slavery).
Social support systems can be designed so that they can be used without being abused. Hand up not hand out.
To encourage independence not insure dependence.

That being said:

Si vis pacem parabellum!

I think he meant 'vote on it' as in, have a popular vote.
Go to the polls, and let the people vote on it.
That is what they should have done.
And dont give me a bunch of sh*t about how this is a Republic and not a Democracy.
If they want to avoid he said / she said, then they need to go with a popular vote on hot button issues.

I'm sorry, were you speaking for me? Because I DID ask for Heath Care reform... as did the MAJORITY of Americans.

Really? Prove it.
I didn't.

f**k them.
Yeah... you didnt 'explore' all of you options, and you dont qualify for anything, so we are taking $95 from you.
Well, they had better take it straight out of my check as a part of taxes, or they will never see it.
If they do take out of my taxes, then I'll just ramp up my deductions to compensate, and there goes part of your 'support' money.

I do not like mandates.
I do not like being told what to do, or what is best for me.
I do not like being told that I'm not smart enough to get it.
I do not like being told that I'm creating division.

I do not like green eggs and ham.

Actually, it is a graduating penalty.

Once in full force (2016) the fine goes up to $695.

And I am pretty sure that is "per person".

A family of five would owe $3475.
