No, always wanted too. Came real close in Dallas once but I missed out.
Some work related BS no doubt.
Same with Zep. Had tickets locked up when Bonham passed.

Saw em the first time in 76 at the carolina colliseum . This was before they started wearing their makeup. Seen em 22 more times in the next few years at a few places , mostly here in Columbia. The thing I remember most was I stuck T P in my ears cause they were so loud.

Its another day in Paradise !!!

I think the first time was 77 at the Midsouth Coliseum, AC/DC opened for them. It was a great show, we had 5th row seats and never sat down for the whole show.

Meh, saw them with VV on guitar.

Jon Butcher Axis opened... followed by Vandenburg, after which I highly unimpressed by the Kiss show.
Adrien Vandenburg owned the stage that night... My opinion... VV should have stayed home.

Never saw 'em, had plenty of opportunities, we always considered them a joke. Gotta give 'em credit for successfully marketing an empty box.

While not a fan per se... I have to disagree with you there.

Paul Stanley is perhaps one of the best vocalists in Rock and Roll History. He is still as strong today as ever, can you say that about Daultry, Plant, Jagger, or anyone?

And while 90% of their material is crap in my personal opinion, Hard Luck Woman, Beth, Detroit Rock City, and several songs from Rock and Roll Over still stand today as well written songs that grab a crowd.

So Marketing success, yes, tons of songs written to attract young audiences they had no real connection with, sure.

But an Empty box... not entirely.

Oh I'm sure there are a lot of people who would disagree with me but that's never stopped me. My main beef with KISS is that they correctly believed that a big show would make up for weak music. They knew average people don't care that much about the music when they go to a concert, they want lights, pyrotechnics and blood spitting.

Thier material never did anything for me, either, so I never bothered to go see them. I think thier whole image put me off so much that I couldn't bear to give 'em a chance, either. I never much liked the rock anthems shouted out so frikken loud anyway.

Daltry, Plant & Jagger all have a few years on Stanley, too. I still prefer Daltry.

I never came close to seeing KISS, but I have very fond memories of them. KISS are literally the first rock band that I liked. I discovered them when I was about 7, and that was easy because of the make-up and costumes.

Looking back, 99% of their lyrics were total cock-rock crap, and the music wasn't anything groundbreaking, but hell... a ton of rock music is like that. It's certainly not a crime.

My fave album is definitely DRESSED TO KILL, but I could go the rest of my life without ever hearing ROCK-N-ROLL ALL NITE. There were a couple of awesome songs on HOTTER THAN HELL, too... namely PARASITE and STRANGE WAYS. Really great stuff. ( to me, anyway )

True, I guess they are kind of a joke, but you gotta admit, they sure knew how to market themselves, and have fun!

I think KISS even had action figures out in the 70's and 80's didn't they?

The first time I heard anything about them was I saw them on some late night show like the midnight special or something when I was about 15 we had just smoked a fat one and I thought they were the coolest thing I had ever seen was hooked from then on. What can I say I was only 15 man and I was high too!

I produced a video production with them on one of their 2003 meet and greet tours. The whole thing took place at the Radison South Twin Cities, MN. It was all toung and cheek. They would get half way through a song and then forget how to play it. Very funny video, about 1 hour long. I Still have the master and all the raw footage.

One of my favorite all time rock bands.
I consider KISS ALIVE one of the best live rock albums ever.

Simple driving rockn roll.
