You are all good people there is no doubt about it but you could cut the air with a knife sometimes in here. I don't think it is any one persons fault either its just like some unseen apathy?

I get ratty sometimes, many apologies for that and I know times is times but peeps there is a big grand world still, you are breathing and have somewhat of a future too.

I think the tension a symptom of the times. We are all more educated than the bulk of our fathers... and more opinionated. Our nation... and the world is more polarized than ever.. and everyone seems to think they are on "the right team".

Every community I visit on the internet (one or two exceptions) is divided into "camps" and bicker and cast monkey poo across the room in an attempt to prove their stance.

I love a healthy review on many topics... but too often it degenerates into a spitting contest about perceived differences that make subtle differences.

One forum is the discussion room for a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game we pirate. Called MMORPG's for short, we have acquired software that allows "friends" to play on a buggy world that you otherwise would have to pay a monthly fee to visit.

There they rant and rail at each other for being "Carebears" for not wanting to participate in PvP (Player vs. Player), or Player Killers for those wanting to ignore the other 80% of the game and just log in to hunt people.

Somehow they miss the common denominator that they are all freaky geeks pirating a communally loved game, and arguing like preschoolers over the red crayon.

Or political forums... Goto the Dem side, they argue over the current proposal vs the Single payer system... or goto the GOP side and they argue Old McCain vs McCain/ Palin. Which by the way... earmarks are 2% of the budget... cut them all, its like swatting a fly on a gangrenous leg and thinking you've saved yourself.

And musician forums... ohh jeez. You'd think these folks could unite the damned world with harmony and instead are currently in disagreements on everything from Cover's vs Originals to which freakin tube sounds best in EVERY guitar amp!

THE HEALTH CARE DEBATE!! Musicians GALORE have suffered illness after illness, and there is no "musicians union" providing me healthcare! Yet too many times I have seen musicians siding with Art hating Repubs... MORALISTS that want to restrict everything from porn to alcohol... and stupid musicians hailing them like they were the messiah.

Our society needs art. Not commercial crap... but artists creating, and society consuming. Art that I do not like even... we need our society to enjoy more and divide less. Its a liberal concept... but it sets well with my otherwise conservative views. I guess that's why I consider myself a progressive.

I know I get too deep into some of these discussions, but it seems in my mind at least... it matters a bit. I want Folks like GlenJ and Slacker to hold different views than myself. But I want them to share those views in a congenial fashion... not scream SOCIALIST OBUMMA rants. I've studied Socialist nations, how they became that way... This is nothing like How the Nazis came to power... or how Stalin or Mao came to power. No "Socialist" views in trying to improve the health of our nation while cutting the expansion of cost. Just a Democratic Process to govern MILLIONS of people mired in Ideology and Political Gamesmanship.

I figured out a long time ago that what suits me or what I think should happen in the world isnt necessarily what matters to the next guy.

I guess what Im saying is that my idea is there is no real right way to do anything. You can skin a cat a lot of different ways but the end result is a skinned cat. Whether you start at the tail or the head or any places in between.

And no Ive never actually skinned a cat nor do i plan too.

Everyone on here comes from different economical, emotional, geographical points of view. What I think is the right thing for me is not right for the next guy and so on and so on. Some people get really really carried away just trying to be able to say they are right about some issue.

Amen I walk to the beat of a different drum and most of the crap that matters to you all makes me yawn.

Actually we might be literally spinning out tomorrow as we could get up to 10 inches of snow. And we're supposed to gig tomorrow night. Actually if I can make it down there I'm looking forward to gig, I've had a rough week.

It was just a general observation, not targeting anyone, just observing the soup as it were, nothing more.

Instead of "Skin a cat" lets use the analogy "Bathe a cat".

Many ways to bathe a cat, true... but only one "Right way". By right way I want to make sure the cat gets a thorough bath, and I don't end up wearing ground Dewy.

Only way to do that is put 8 inches of water and a bit of soap in a garbage can, drop the cat in and pop the lid on.

I will laugh heartily at anyone trying to do it differently and offer them first aid and decent advice.

Now, maybe I'm closed minded not listening to anyone else on their ideas on cat bathing... or maybe I've done it a few times and have enough clues to add up to a solved mystery.

When you're shredded and bleeding, scowling at a mad, sudsy cat sometime... give ol' Dewy's trick a try.

That image made me smile. Thanks for sharing. I used to have cats. I am not "naturally" a cat person, but my ex-wife reformed me to some degree, and I also had a cooperative cat among the several we had, who loved me enough, to act more like a dog, and we were best buddies.

But the cat in the trash can...
