I have now open for Travis Meeks and Days of the New while playing for Smoking Gorillas. Its been a blast and the crowds have been big! Im also practicing on my string bass. Takes time for the muscle memory to get to where I feel good about playing songs. So Ive been going through scales again. 2 octaves, and work out proper fingerings and postions and bowing.
Yes I said bowing (french bow). Sore fingers for me!

Your song "NO VOCALS" has a lot of potential.I really hear a song in there.

Cool.
Eric plays the string bass as well.
We attempted to convert some of our music to an unplugged set for coffee house use. NEAH !
We'll stick with ROCKIN!

Best wishes.

How do you intend (or do you) to amplify the string bass ?

I have been told this can be a very tricky situation sonically.

Those Fishmans are the coolest.

I don't envy you, though. Bull fiddle is damned hard work, as far as I can tell.

I've jammed on it a few times with some bluegrass bands, & I can see why so many players tape thier fingers.

It takes awhile to get over that big bulky awkward factor, too, doesn't it?

I studied string bass until I was about 25 years old then played off and on until I was about 35. I then set the double bass aside for a few years. It came back out in my mid 40s . That lasted about 2 weeks. Because my hands hurt. But in week 3 of re leaning.. Its getting alot better and I can do 2 octave scales now and I start sight reading monday!
