If you could start your own groundbreaking band, who would be in it? Alive or dead.

For Me:

Bass:Steve Harris

Guitar:Denis' aka Piggy(Voivod)

Three of me. Then I could play everything exactly like I want. I could do all my own arrangements and everyone would know what to play. No more arguing. No one wanting to be the star. No one late or showing up with too many drinkies.

Other than that, the guys I would really like to play with most likely wouldn't want me in their band.

I would love to play with Chad Smith and Flea for a rythym section. Chris Cornell on vocals. I would want a keyboard player, but Im not sure who.

In Audian, I'm already playing with my dream lineup... Not kidding. These guys are great, with great attitudes and mad skills. It's a really fun band to play in.

For my cover band, I'd settle for a competent bass player with a fun attitude. My vocalist is already one of my best friends in the world... There's only one other person in the world I'd rather have singing and she knows who she is.

I honestly tried and cannot answer,

It becomes genre dependent - for instance, for blues/soul, I'd have Janis Joplin or James Brown on vocals, but for metal, I'd take Ronnie James Dio or Bruce Dickinson..

Richard Wright on keyboards tho-

Geddy or steve harris on bass

Me on guitar, only person who is allowed to hold a guitar near me would be alex lifeson or jimi hendrix. Maybe I'd let SRV roadie for us and tune my guitar or polish it or something

Now this IS a really cool thread. Am I allowed to put people together who may not get along? I'll assume everybody on my fantasy band will get along:

Drums: S.P. Leary
Lead Guitar: Freddie King
Keyboard: Can't remember his name but the keyboard player in Lynyrd Skynyrd
Bass: Dave Carey
Lead Vocals: Junior Wells
(Not a bad choice for harmonica either)
Harmonica: Kent Miller
Rhythm Guitar: Jimmy Vaughan
Trumpet: Brian McDonald
Saxophone: A C Reed

I could play bass and sing in this band and hold my own but I'd much rather listen to Dave Carey (amazing bass player) and Junior Wells (the baddest blues singer ever). The one guy on this list I actually did play in a band with was Kent Miller (harmonica) who's still the best I ever heard at that instrument and I was lucky enough to keep up with him. I also played in a band with Brian McDonald (trumpet) who was an excellent musician (I wonder if he's still in Kansas City?)

I actually meant the SRV thing as a compliment - as he's made me feel about 2" tall after listening to his stuff, so I figure if I were playing in the ultimate band, that he wouldn't be allowed to show me up :)

For me it would be the ultimate jam band:

Warren Haynes on Guitar and Vocals
Me on guitar as well (I'd let Warren take a solo once in a while)
Victor Wooten on Bass
Paul Shaffer on keys (he's annoying, but he can play)
Stewart Copeland on Drums

Vocals: Robert Plant, Alison Kraus, Aretha Franklin & Johnny Cash
Guitar: Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Eddie Van Halen & Ritchie Blackmore
Drums: My buddy, Will Diamond
Keyboards: Jon Lord
Horns: Tower of Power
Fiddle: Alison Kraus
Producer: T-Bone Burnett

I don't know what we'd come up with, but it would be one heck of a ride. And that, really, is the point.
:D :D :D :D
