I remember that one well, read about it soon after it was done. Kennesaw Georgia...Aren't you from Georgia, Craig?? Seems you would have known that one...

Oh hell, that's right!
I wasn't living in Georgia when they passed it, but I think they bring up articles about this every five years or so. So, I should have remembered that.
Of course, I'm not from Georgia originally, and I keep trying to leave it (no offense to Georgians) but at least I'm only 25 minutes from the Florida line now. I keep getting closer to being a Floridian again at least!
LOL

LMAO!

Take guns from citizens and you give criminals exactly what they want. Defenseless victims.
I agree.
I realize there are statistics that more gun crimes are committed in America than in England for example, but those statistics wouldn't reflect how many lives are saved by a responsible citizen owning a gun either. Nor would it reflect how many crimes were PREVENTED by armed homeowners. In reality it could be far worse, without that protection.
Because, I don't think it's fair to compare British culture with our own. Taking the guns away from responsible citizens does not mean criminals would stop using them. If you can smuggle drugs that freely into the states, you can do the same with weapons. It may just create a whole new underground economy, with all the violence that usually brings.
One of the reasons we beat the British in the first place, was because our citizens were better shots, even teenagers. There's a letter that survived the American Revolution period, where an Englishman wrote back home, that he and the other British troops were doled out a very limited number of bullets to practice with, to save money, whereas, he complained, that even the kids here were better shots than the British soldiers, because they were used to hunting rabbits and such, on a daily basis.
I thought that was amusing.
So yeah, don't take away our right to bear arms and defend ourselves and our property, and as a side benefit... it keeps the government nervous.
