She actually had some fair material. I just wish she'd quit whining about her victimhood while she's cutting down others.

I'm her biggest fan (as a comedian).

Yeah, I didn't get to see this live.

I'm kind of disgusted with Jay Leno right now.

But I did catch a few clips of it... some video included with news stories about it. I thought she did a great job from what I saw. She is courageous to even try it. Alot of starch shirted politicians would have flopped on their asses, trying to deliver a humorous monologue. Hell, I've seen then do it in their own political speeches, which were supposed to be funny, but they blew the timing (one of the most important elements of good comedians).

You have to also admire her ability to laugh at herself, even in the midst of some of the most crass and vile insults and hatred a human can bear.

From certain elements of "humanity", she is treated barely a step above Osama bin Laden! Yet, no know can sufficiently explain to me, why she "deserves" such ruthless, vile and detestable treatment. It's almost like a child explaining his family's racism... "We just hate 'em, we don't really know why!"

I think it is partly sexism, though no one would admit that.

You can offer Hillary Clinton as a defense, but that wouldn't count. Hillary had paid her dues for DECADES in the "victim of hatred and revileness" department. She was hated as far back as Arkansas, when she was loathed for not taking her husband's last name. She was hated as first lady, particularly when she attempted to head a health care reform committee, without holding any official government title.

And while some also hated Hillary for "standing by her man" after Monica Lewinsky, I think most people admired her for maintaining dignity throughout the whole affair, while her husband's dirty laundry was aired for months, and his being the subject of not only political attacks, but fodder for all the late night comedians as well.

There's clearly a sexist element here, where hatred of Palin is concerned. Inexperience doesn't explain it. Palin has something like 14 years of public office on her resume. Lack of intelligence doesn't cut it either. She is clearly an intelligent woman. You have to have a good measure of, not only intelligence, but political saavy, to take on the leadership of YOUR OWN PARTY.... and WIN against them, and then maintain that position for years afterward, though the ones you lodged official ethics complaints against are seething in anger and resentment over your having crushed their political careers. Not to mention that she made far less gaffs on the campaign trail, than either Biden or Obama, whose glaring mistakes were always forgotten virtually the minute they occurred.

Apparently one late night channel was not enough to contain Palin. In reading the blogs today, Palin-talk, held large segments of MOST of the late night talk shows. And not the least of which was... Romney on Letterman, telling the talk show host "You should ease up on her" and Romney also said of Palin "She's great" and... "She is qualified to be President"

Unlike Ross Perot, Romney not only has plenty of experience running businesses, but also plenty of political experience to go with it!

Let's hear the Romney jokes now. After all, surely he just condemned any shot he had at running successfully for anything, after the public praise he gave Palin, dontcha think? ;-)

Obama is a one-term President. You can bet on that. I think the one fatal flaw for Palin is quitting as Governor. Americans do not like quitters. I also think many Americans view her as eminently unqualified to be President. I'm among those that think so. I wouldn't be surprised if Obama doesn't even run for President again. I think Hillary is going to run again and be the Dem nominee. Who ends up as Republican nominee is anybody's guess. It won't be Palin...

I'm probably being too "hard on" her but I'd like to teach her about "The Sin of Sodom" (sorry Craig just yanking yer chain).

Sexism you say?

Just where does your obsession with that woman come from Craig?
Why are you so fascinated by her?

Yeah, sexism.

Mocking someone for laughs is one thing. Ross Perot was a prime target for such jokes, being a short napoleanic figure with his high pitched country drawl, and classic lines like "A giant sucking sound!" referring to jobs going south of the border.

But you didn't hear HATRED in the jokes. You didn't see vicious personal assaults against his FAMILY. And that is especially harsh against Palin, when even her child with Down Syndrome is not off limits from the literally EVIL attacks and dark jokes. Palin was governor, and her husband is, by all accounts a smart enough person himself, who willingly became more of a stay at home dad, while Palin ran their state. She should be lauded by feminists everywhere. Their family is a perfect example, of a do it all, and handle it well, working woman who is also a mother. Add the special needs child into the mix, and Palin is a model of accomplishments, determination and a truly modern woman, who can stand shoulder to shoulder with powerful men, and not sacrifice being a caring and attentive mother.

But instead she is VILIFIED.

Instead, her family and even her down syndrome child are CRUCIFIED, and even in the supposedly professional mainstream press.

What on earth, has she done to deserve any of it?

I am enamored of her, because of all of the above comments, as well as the facts, that she was encouraged by her local community to run for city council in the first place. Her community needed her, and she answered the call. She rose to meet and succeed in EVERY challenge she faced. She ran her state FOR THE PEOPLE'S interest, and even lodged ethics charges against HER OWN PARTY ELITE who were operating like the typical "good ole boys" club, and giving away bad government contracts to their friends and allies. She changed all that in Alaska, and I think she would change what she could in Washington D.C. too!

She was a mom.

She was almost thrust into politics. Her intelligence and personal character and work ethic, allowed her to be VERY successful, improve the economy and infrastructure of her constituents, and she did it for 14 YEARS, all the way up the ladder to the Governor's office.

She should be ESTEEMED for these accomplishments, particularly not being from an Ivy League school, with all the backing of the rich and powerful, and being an "outside the beltway" common American, who has accomplished great things, ON HER OWN MERIT ALONE!

The biggest thing however, in making me pay attention to her, is that God raised her to national prominence, and He has let me know that she figures prominently, in future events to come. Call me wacky, I don't care. I believe God when He speaks to me. So does she. It may scare some people, when she has let it slip, that she is in God's will, trying to obey His will, but not me. God has confirmed for me, that she is doing just that. She is going to be vitally important to our national security one day... probably as President.

Looking at the current climate against her, I realize how absurd that sounds. But God has a history of choosing the most unlikely of leaders, to accomplish important things for humanity.

There are hundreds, even thousands of David and Goliath stories in God's providence. It is a SIGN of God. That He uses the weak to defeat the strong. The Bible is replete with such instances, and so is human history itself.

David and Goliath.

Martin Luther King and Ghandi, who defeated police and military might, through what? Non violence. How does not being violent, defeat those who ARE violent? Jesus changes the world by willingly dying on a cross, though He had all the power to defeat the forces aligned against Him if He had chosen, in a single instance.

The world is about to face it's darkest days EVER.

You will see MORE Palins in the coming years, being lifted up, seemingly out of nowhere, from the unlikliest of circumstances. An army if you will. A group of simple, yet powerful BELIEVERS, who HEAR GOD, and are not afraid to LISTEN and obey. These figures will appeal to decency and love, and cooperation, in the midst of the most trying times humanity has ever faced.

Oh c'mon Craig! You go after anyone who says anything bad about her like you're her big brother or something.

Whenever a female subject comes up, you go too far. Are you overcompensating for things in the past, maybe? No one else sees the sexism like you do.

I mean, a parent who's children have grown up certain ways that don't fit in with her party's strict stance on life is bound to be under scrutiny. Not taking her husband's name is definitely NOT a Rep trait, & perhaps shows she wants to be remembered for her own premarital accomplishments, like winning beauty pageants, more than following societal standards, or honoring the "sanctity of marriage" Rep's are so fond of talking about when the gay subject comes up. Add to that the fact that she quit her gov job. David didn't quit. MLK & Ghandi didn't quit. SHE quit, yet now she seems to want to set herself up for a return to politics?

She may as well be painting a target on her ass, Craig, cuz if she does return, the things said in the past will look positively touchie-feelie compared to what she'll be facing after quitting & showing that she's vulnerable. She doesn't have the wit. She doesn't have the backbone. She doesn't have the knowledge or the drive to get the knowledge to do the job. She's shown us all nothing whatsoever that would demonstrate her emotional or mental capability (or stability) to be a world leader. She demonstrates nothing but her disdain for those she lost to & her aptitude for nasty comments about her opponents during the election process that aren't even true, but said to stir up ppl's sense of racism & "patriotism."

I haven't even touched upon her stupidity in interviews. What kinds of stupid sh*t is she liable to spout off during international negotiations? I hope her hands are big enough for her crib notes, there, ol' buddy! HAH!

She has earned every nasty comment she's gotten, cuz that's pretty much all she GAVE in the last election, & it's all she's given us ever since she LOST the election for the Reps. She lied about her party's opponent innumerable times. You conveniently forget that, Craig. She pandered to the least among us, & it often looked as if she were inciting riots rather than campaining. As someone who is supposed to be qualified to lead, she's shown herself to be particularly inept at even the warm-up stage of leadership, & then quit her job as governor on top of it all.

Palin is a good target for anyone's villification, & she has certainly earned most, if not all of it through her own nasty hatred, her lying, & hypocritical actions. She's a bad loser, & I suspect that she would be an even worse winner. The nation was warning the candidates that we're sick of nasty politics, but she ignored us & lost. Now she's STILL trying to drag us all back into the muck, along with the other far right & far left assholes. We are sick of it. She is too stupid to get the message, & the media is gonna get us all right back into that frame of mind again. It makes me sick, & I am so sure that the very last thing this country needs is "more Sarah Palins!"

Follow the light, Sarah Palin! Stay on the entertainment stage. That's about the only place you can do anyone any good, & even there you can't do much if your only contributions are negative.

I just don't see the excitement with Palin. Was mayor of a small town and governor for a hlaf term, kind of the same amount of experience as Lame Duck Obama, and you see what we're getting with him. No, I'd rather a more experienced person be elected President, no matter how hot they might look in a bikini...
