I've watched a few events but for some reason I just can't get into any of it. I'm a big sports fan in general but somehow this all seems lame to me. Is it too commercialized?

My wife is trying to be into it, & I think it's affecting her the same way, bob.

I have no interest this year. I mean it's nice that that Apolo dude can win so many medals & all, but I'm having a hard time caring.

It's like we don't have any real personalities representing us. The women skiers are just fluffy valley girl types. Nobody but Sean White that I'd wanna hang out with...

I might watch the Biathlon events but the commie pig broadcast companies rarely televise the evil shooting sports.

I have been Bob yes. Like you however its just the same old routine. Blanket adverts which cut out crucial moments. I prefer the full blown event myself.

I only watch it when all there is is worse crap on the TV. Hmm. I guess really have watched most of it.

I think part of the problem with our flagging interest is how the media tries too hard to make every person's story a "human interest story," when there's most often little to interest most of us. We've all got it hard now, so listening to yet another tale of woe just gets so damned old, in spite of whether or not they can overcome it all.

We're getting very jaded. There's too much for us to take in, & we're bored.

I'm real tired of the NBC way of presentation, as well.

It's like Christmas. It's become too commercial. (Although I do like Steven Colbert's coverage, cuz he cracks me up.)

I've been watching the winter olympics for most of my life and these are the best I've seen. I've been up to 12:30 every night (getting up the next day at 6:30am) but they've been worth it. Yes they're commercialized, welcome to America where everything is a commercial (this message brought to you by GHS Boomers). I don't watch the summer olympics but the winter sports are fast, fun and dangerous (danger is my middle name).

Olympic Commercials however are no way near s bad as newscasters and the hype that drums them up like stars.

Speaking of rugby have you ever watched Australian Rules football. It's a combination of American football, rugby and soccer. It KICKS BUTT. Many years ago ESPN used to broadcast Aussie football late at night. I haven't seen it on TV in years. I wish they would put it back on TV or start a league in North America. Talk about a crazy sport. It's really pretty simple. If you have a chance to see it I recommend it.

Good sport though I cannot get a handle on the rules sometimes, a bit like American football sometimes, (Sorry).

I think some channels carry it but I'm sure you'll agree anything like American football or baseball over here will wipe the floor with it as regards ratings. That's a real pity and one reason I like looking in on the Olympics since there are a good number of sports on there you would not normally see here.

I much prefer the Summer games. Sadly, again few people even realize that there are shooting sports involved.
For some reason I have always been fascinated with both Pole Vault, High Jump, and the various expressions of the Long Jump.

Olympics? Is it on? I didn't even know.

When you are busy, TV is not generally a concern let alone the Olympics.

You know what kind of Olympics would be good TV to me?

The kind where terrorists take over and the swat team has to go in and shoot em up. Hopefully it would be a long drawn out thing with nades being tossed around and finishing with a GUN to the head type thing to stop the head terrorist from blowing it all up.

You guys are so apathetic (or is it pathetic?). The games were great, the atheletes were great and the ceremonies were too. The US won a record number of medals. But I am glad they're over, I haven't slept much in the past two weeks.
