People got no food on their plates, havent had a job in months. lost their homes , lost their spouses kids and best dog.No paycheck no money. I am not going to argue the numbers, they arent good.
Why the hell is obama still wasting 7 hours on a healthcare summit, when a staggering number just want to be able to feed their babies.
Dont tell me that if they had health care they would have a job.
Now is not the time to discuss this. Now is the time to concentrate on putting America back to work,,, We are starting to have starving babies here.

Healthcare is just as big an issue to millions of people. There are many families without insurance, and many children who need medical care but can't get it. These people need help as much as the unemployed.

Yes there are a lot of people out of work, but many (or most) are unemployed because they have no skills that are marketable. I know many auto workers who never bothered to go to school even though the UAW TAP program had 50 million available. Now the sky is falling and they can't get jobs.

The recent recession hurt everyone to different degrees. I lost 50K in my IRA, 80K on my house, I was out of work for six months and I had to borrow 20K just to keep my house. But I've been at my new job for nine months, I'm starting to pay some of this debt off and I just got a new car. So things are getting better.

Biggest problem is a lot of people don't want to work, or have been brain drained by the college prof to think they should be the VP right out of school. I've been laid off, truck repossessed went to school working two and three jobs. I see help wanted signs everywhere and employers complain because the people they hire either steal from them or won't get off their cell phone long enough to actually do a job.
Funny how millions of illegals can find work but a college grad can't .
(wont)
Damn few people know how to work anymore.
I would not hire the lazy SOBs either.
Freakin sad situation, cant get a job but they can smoke and drink and have a cell phone and a big screen TV.
Take cruses to Mexico or Alaska, vacation in Vegas but cant afford insurance.

WTF people get off your asses and EARN a living.
Most don't deserve a dime of my familys income.
Those whom do deserve a hand up will make good of it in short order not leach off the public for years at a time.

Something in my local news caught my attention.

A law school in Memphis had students raising funds to go to Miami to help Haitians come here and get jobs. Im sorry these folks had this earthquake, but the reality is they had problems before this, Ive been there and seen conditions there before all this attention. These students wanted to help expediate the process of getting these people here and getting all their paperwork cleared. I mean WTF?

Why do we bring these people here and take jobs away from citizens.

It was funny, I have some connections with the school and law in general and one of the students called looking for donations. I told him I already pay enough taxes without giving money to help bring more people here when unemployment is so high. He couldnt understand where I was coming from, said I was anti American. Kinda weird deal there.

From what I watched of thier healthcare debate Obama is just trying to steamroll over everyone and get his agenda passed. 900 TRILLION dollars over the next 10 years. Politicians are dumbass's, I think they should make all of them actually get a normal job for a year or two before they actually serve so they know what is going on with real people.

Obama is trying to write a check that you and I cant afford.

The bulk of Americans in polls are against the bill, why do politicians not listen to the folks that punch the vote buttons. It just amazes me.

I did think it was funny when Obama shut McCain down, ha ha "John the election is over"

Shouldnt there be an age limit placed on a politician, cause at some point they lose touch.

There's some harsh words all around on every issue...

While I'll agree that health care might be better put on the back burner for a year or so, I also must admit that this was one of the key topics that got him elected. He obviously is trying to follow through with a promise he made, I can't fault the man for that, though others surely will.

It's pretty clear to me that these Capital Hill & PA Ave folk aren't in touch with the average Joes in this country.

If he should manage to help out ppl in need over high health care costs, he's doing ppl some real good.

I see it all turning into yet another contest of party wills, & that pisses me off, cuz all that accomplishes is nothing at all getting done. The Reps are very good at being spoilers when they can (as can be the Dems, if we look at the history). It seems like it's a selling point of the party to say "We gotta stop him at any cost."

The problem is, the cost is always the citizen's, not the elected ppl's.

Meanwhile, all he goes on is the damned stats his staff give him, & he doesn't ask the right questions, when it comes to the economy.

His staff tell him that unemployment numbers are dropping. They don't tell him how many of those jobs are from ppl taking on two crappy jobs to replace the one they lost recently, how many are temp placements, or how many of them are part-time or from ppl just grabbing at any minimum wage thing to have enough for rent, though they used to make 3 or 4 times minimum wage.

He may actually think things are getting better, if all he sees are the manipulated numbers. This is just more of the same old in our gov't. It wouldn't matter WHO won the last election, we'd be in the same boat thanks to the combination of gov-speak & partyism.

You can't fault the man when the problem is the system. All the system cares about is the gov'tal machine running, while the ones who have the $ are still getting it, & the republicrats & demicans are sure to keep it all running as usual, to the detriment of the rest of us.

If anyone in our upper gov't really cared about these issues, they would be trying to solve the prob's, yet that continually seems to be the very last thing on thier minds.

My son now has over $6K in copays due in the current health care model, simply because he took on the duties of being a good dad to a kid that may have been hurt in the womb by an irresponsible mother who ripped him off, stole his identity & tried to hurt his credit rating, & skipped to the other side of the country to avoid being arrested for her misdemeanors & felonies in the nearby states. He's only had the child for a year & a half. His costs are going to continue to increase. He pays good money for what some would consider to be "good insurance." There is no help coming for him. No one helping with his exorbitant costs of the operations & constant testing needing to be done. Sorry, ppl, but this sort of thing is where the gov't &/or the community helps ppl out, imho, cuz the insurance he pays so much for is ignoring his needs, & the co he works for continually DROPS coverage each year to keep thier costs to a minimum, yet they are raking in huge profits.

Meanwhile, he's screwed by being a good father, like Kramer or bob or millions of others. Yeah, life ain't fair, but when ppl & co's are being paid for these situations, & they aren't doing thier part, then help needs to come from somewhere, or else you force ppl into the poorhouse simply for unearned profits. I say unearned, cuz the monies they keep should be spent on better coverage for us all. Again I ask - how much profit is reasonable?

These problems have existed since communities began, & we still haven't yet evolved to the point that we can or will care for our own?

Ppl suck!

Because health care isn't about health care. It is about control and political power. The proposed plan does not cover every American. All if does is raise premiums and health related product prices with exorbitant taxes. And why do they want that, what is the underlying motive? Fill the coffers so politicians can get their hands on billions upon billions of dollars.

The health care plan is like the stimulus package. It didn't create any jobs. But a lot of the money found it's way to politicians pockets for votes. Just like Social Security. Where did that money go? It didn't go to social Security. Where does any money earmarked for a specific use go? Into politicians pockets. Look at highway funds. You can go on and on, but as long as there is a dollar in any fund, there is a slimy politician working out a plan to get his hands on it.

We could have given every American, and every illegal one million dollars to spend. No problem with jobs, no problem with prosperity. No one would need health insurance. No one would need Social Security. No one would go hungry. It would have cost just a fraction of the monies spent to do nothing but get filtered overseas for various reasons and buy votes for more oppressive laws and programs that steal your freedom, your money, and rob your children and grandchildren. of any chance to lead the type of life that you had.

The news media is the propaganda branch of a corrupt government. They are all corrupt. Some let a bit of the truth slip by, but that is about all. As long as the lemmings believe a word they say, they have the upper hand. Look at the people running things. Look at their ideals and character. The go into office with a few dollars in their bank accounts, like Obummer, and come out multi millionaires two years later. No one cares if you have a job or not. The goal for the last hundred years is to form a world government. America needs to brought to the economy of other nations to accomplish that goal. They need to destroy the dollar so they can go to a one world currency.

Don't believe any of what I am saying. Just wait. You will have funny money in your wallet in short order. Then you will find out that you have been duped. Wait until the "We all must unite to survive this crisis" call comes out from the scoundrels you call representatives. You will be all for that too. And when that happens, then you will notice that the constitution is no longer valid, you will discover that you haven't any rights, and perhaps then you will understand. It is all about Greed and power. Nothing else. It is not about health at all. It would cost a pittance to insure every uninsured American and every illegal. It would cost almost nothing for the government to subsidize your insurance plan to make it more affordable. But it is not about health, it would take nothing to put a cap on lawsuits that drain the medical system and make it un affordable in the first place. But the one thing that would certainly cut costs, lawyer greed, is left out as a means of cutting costs.

As it is, everyone in America, illegal or illegal, gets treated in an emergency. No one has been denied. This administration policy is lie big and lie often, and eventually they will believe the lie.

So if the goal is to protect the economy, if the goal is to prosper the American people, if the goal is to make sure we are all healthy, then why didn't they simply give each a million dollars instead of spending hundreds of times that amount in places and filling pockets where we will never see the results?

Think about what this economy would look like with every American having a million dollars to spend. So why spend hundreds of times that much in phony programs? That is probably less than health care alone will cost years from now if passed as written.

A million dollars each. Would anyone still be pi$$ing and moaning? No.? Yes? Only the corrupt politicians who didn't get their crooked greedy stinking hands on the monies would be screaming.

Some good points Slacker however it seems most of the people against healthcare reform have insurance. When you have to pay for it every month (or worse do without it) reform sounds like a good idea.

Yes. But subsidized payments would end that problem with little cost by comparison.

Americans within the poverty level do get insurance state paid, already. At least people in Iowa do. And the emergency rooms are filled with illegals getting free health care. And that is in every state as far as I know. I believe it is against federal law to exclude anyone from emergency care. I am a veteran, so I get VA hospital care. It pretty much sucks. So I KNOW what gov sponsored care will be like. And illegals fill the VA hospitals as well. Along with the welfare folk, prisoners, and the likes.

Tack a user fee on to everyone who takes a kid to an emergency room for a common cold that they can do nothing about. A fee for every emergency that is no emergency at all. A percentage of that emergency cost should be paid by abusers. That would eliminate hundreds of millions of wasted dollars. I know people here that take their kids there every time they get a sniffle. Just because they can. And they do it for nothing, You are the one paying for that abuse.

The biggest problem is the one they refuse to fix with tort reform. Lawyers bringing frivolous law suits that health care providers would rather play then spend millions and years defending in courts.

Woman gets millions for spilling HER hot coffee on herself while driving through a Mc Donalds. And you can go on and on with examples like that. Who pays Mr f*&^%$G greedy lawyer? You do. In everything you buy, and in every service you use. While they get filthy rich.

That is the type of thing greedy lawyers take health care institutions to court for every day. Tack a 5 million dollar lawsuit onto a providers insurance, and see how much costs go up. Then multiply that by hundreds every year. The lawyers get rich, providers get their insurance raised through the ceiling, and you get the bill. Thousands of doctors have quit the profession because insurance costs are so exorbitant.
And more and more greedy lawyers have found they can advertise nationally and get whatever they demand from health care providers. You see that every day on TV. But politicians protect frivolous lawsuits, even though that is the main cause of escalating health care. Why?

Because politicians are greedy lawyers too, for the most part.

You can't pay the kind of money these crooks demand and keep your costs down. Lawyers are the biggest problem in America, and they are responsible for high prices in every area of out economy.

That may be true Jimmy. But for myself I have been paying out of pocket (or doing without) for some time.

For me to get insurance for my family through my employer it would cost me more than $600.00 a month.
If I had $600.00 a month to spare I would not need freaking insurance.

Yes, We have starving babies. I have been witnessing a sad sad thing here. We have families , willing and wanting to work, but theres no work to get for most. losing homes, children in rags but the best their families can do. Its sad. Heres what made me angry. My husband went to a store a couple weeks ago,and a couple little girls came up to him asking for him to buy a little carnation for $5. He asked them what it was for, they said,"we need to raise money for our friend. at that time a woman came up from a church group and explained it. They had a family who had lost their home, healthcare, and their little girl. they were raising money to help this family bury their child, to have a funeral! Oh my Lord! What the heck is going on? We have Americans going through hardships that are un- imaginable, yet, are we helping our own? NO! Now I have so much sympathy and compassion for the sadness of the earthquate damge, but how much more is needed over there by us? what about our people here? I see Michelle Obama's commercials, is it help our fellow Americans? Help America? NO! What the Hell? Its time we play heroes to us. Hope I dont sound hard or without compassion, but im tired of it. When I have extra to donate to anything, I donate it to causes here at home, HOME, America. Thanks for the chance to vent.

I saw on the news today that the obummers hosted 300 events events last year.

Mrs Obummer, who tells us we should go into community service jobs, that money shouldn't be a goal, wears $500.00 tennis shoes and $$$$$$$$ designer clothes. "Let them eat cake" comes to mind. They fly everywhere on your dollar, even though they grafted millions from his previous position.

Yeah, I know what you are squirming around in front of your keyboard wanting to type with eager anticipation.. But first let me point this out.... she (Palin} was told how to dress. And she never preached about how we should cut back all the time while hosting 300 party's and flying all over for dates and mini vacations on your tax dollar. And her clothes did not come out of your pocket in the form of tax dollars. No. I am NOT a Republican.

And all while the Obummers keep telling us we should stop driving to conserve fuel. I wonder how much fuel a big jet uses to fly to a party. And I wonder how many of your tax dollars it costs you for all that security. And how much of that pollution they are harping about all the time do THEY create with their self absorbed self imposed royalty status. And they hope we will all revert to taking our family's on vacation with mopeds to save fuel. And a lot of you still can't get the big picture. Go figure.

Obummer went into political office almost broke. When he left, he was a millionaire multiple times over. Ya gotta wonder how that works. And nothing has been done that would create any jobs other than government jobs that take money from your wallet. No matter where the money comes from, for any government job, it still comes out of your pocket in the end. But then, don't be stupid. Government has NEVER created a single job. They just graft more and more people into government and pay for that by taking money from people who are already financially stressed.

The Obummers..... Hope and change. How's it working out for you?

It's working out great for them.

Yeah yeah yeah, some idiot will try to change the subject and point fingers at Republicans. We all know every politician is a crook. But the subject matter of my post isn't about them. I don't recall them telling us we need to give up our dreams and settle for public service.
This post is about those who are constantly telling us we have to cut back and live like the people in third world countries, while they live like royalty, not like the public servants that they are..

Can you say F&^%$*&^ Hippocrates boys and girls?

Slacker, before my dad died a couple of years ago he was at the Veterans Memorial Hospital here in Houston and I have to say they took very good care of him.
I will say that if you want a real wakeup go to your local V.A. hospital and hang out, out front and watch what goes on. I saw some of the most frustated men around there. I think that this country should really take care of our veterans because 110% of you guys are my heroes and I think that is the very least we could do for them!
